This 3-track debut single acts as a fine introduction for this Norwegian trio and proves that they've got what it takes when it comes to composing good solid electropop. Adopting a typically European, slightly restrained style this single will appeal to fans of X-Act, Edenfield or Elegant Machinery, the latter comparison being mainly due to the use of analogue drum machine that gives the music that synthetic edge. E.Vagmo's vocals are well up to scratch and perfectly compliment the subdued feel of the track. The m-theory remix is far less successful in this writer's eyes when compared to the original as it seems to be a case of remixing for remixing's sake where nothing of any real value is added and the essential heart of the track is lost, leaving it a lifeless shell. I'm not sure exactly what was hoped for here but the original is far superior in every sense. The 'Voiceless Edit' of "Another:Morning" makes up the trio of tracks. An instrumental (as you may have guessed!) the synthesizers of P.Norstrom are given the chance to really shine on this infectious, enjoyable and lively track which again proves this band's promise and is a further demonstration of their synthetic style.
With their strong compositional skills and good ear for melody, X:Machina prove that they have what it takes to make it and this single ought to do much to raise expectations for their forthcoming album.
