VARIOUS ARTISTS/CRYONICA

CRYONICA TANZ V.2

After the resounding success of the first "Cryonica Tanz" it was inevitable a second would appear and once again Cryonica co-owner Reza Udhin and Seba Dolimont (of Side Line/Alfa Matrix fame) have done themselves proud with another superb collection of electro/EBM that is essential listening.

There's the usual mixture of exclusive mixes and totally new tracks with Massiv In Mensch with George Salatic opening proceedings with their eponymous track that is superb.

With so much music on offer here this review can really only provide an overview of the tracks although there's plenty of hard hitting electro to get you teeth into including tracks from future Stars Nebula-H with "Twilight Zone" (which takes it's inspiration directly from the famous 60s sci-fi show), Cubanate's "React To It" and Sweden's Interlace with their "Soul Of A New Machine" (Seemingly their compilation track of choice!). Inertia's 'Club Attack' mix of "Body Noise" and GASR's "New Society" (mixed here by the ever excellent Flesh Field) both give good accounts of themselves although the remix of Cesium 137's "Regrets" never comes close to matching the excellent original which is a shame. V2A's "Rhythmus (Death Machine RMX)" shows them in typically uncompromising form and is a good pointer a to what they're about. The rapid fire electro of Cruciform Injection should win them a fair few new followers, as should Solitary Experiments' "God Where Are You" which shows this massively underrated band in their usual fine form.

Seabound's "Smoke (Pain Remix)" and Colony 5's "Crackhead" give the future poppers a dose while the usually unpredictable Aiboforcen weigh in with a straighforward enough "Club Mix" of "Give Me These Wings". The new mix of "Control" by The Nine is more acidic and harder which is certainly more in keeping with the compilation while Razed In Black's "Share The poison" is another electro piece but with very melodic vox.Implant's "Breezer" is an excellent mix of electro and Goa Trance.

The hard hitting electro of Neikka RPM's "Here's Your Revolution" and Railgun's rhythm heavy "Scarab" get disc two off to a racey start while The Retrosic's excellent "Ground Zero" makes yet another compilation appearance while Electro Synthetic Rebellion, Idiot Stare, Tone Generation and Kontinuum provide further electro food for thought.

Many of the remixes seem targetted towards collectors than anyone else as as Sekt remix Headscan and Implant remix Epsilon Minus who mix Stromkern's "Terrorist" like some incestuous daisy chain; any newcomers may not be convinced on whether they should check these bands out or not.

Synthpoppers will be delighted to see Emergenz combining with Melotron on the superb "Vergessen Ist Suhne" while The Galan Pixs also seem to be heading in this direction with "Acid Anger Again (C-Bass Remix)". Fiction 8's remix of "Sister Illusion" is a bit chaotic in places but a least keeps the excellent tune of the original. Aghasty View hit hard with an impenetrable electro wall and harsh vox before Void Construct finish the album off with "Disconnected (Subliminal mix)" which shows them progressing nicely.

This impressive collection is one that any self respecting electro fan cannot afford to be without by pricing it as a single CD they're virtually giving it away!!
