This CD has left me quite confused. Has anyone else noticed a change in Suicide Commando's modus operandi?
I want to like this CD, and for the most part I do. But there is a very obvious lack of intensity. Face of Death is a good song, but there is nothing about it that resembles "blind rage." And, in an effort to make up for this lack of intensity, there is the very profound directive on the back of the CD: Play At Maximum Volume.
Sorry, Johnny, but maximum volume is not going to make this CD any better.
So we have the Axis Of Evil CD title, which is loaded with obvious sarcasm and innuendo. One should have a field day tapping into a tremendously deep well of anger regarding the pathetic state of the world right now. So why is the knife's edge on this CD so dull? Perhaps it is my own expectations that have betrayed me? Or maybe the edge was taken off intentionally, to suggest some kind of resignation or to lull everyone to sleep? I am not really sure.
Ironically, in one of the only songs on the CD that has any real energy, Sterbehilfe, "Death is the end of pain," is repeated throughout the song. Very confusing indeed.
