Brand new single from the English solo artist Paul Adams better know as Seven Words. This single is the second to be taken from his second album ‘Fall from Grace’ and it features three tracks, are all remixes of the single itself while the single also includes an extensive CD-Rom section that features two exclusive MP3 tracks, the first is a 10minute plus remix of the single itself while the second is the new track ‘The Voice Of Gaia’.
In my review of the ‘Fall From Grace’ album I described ‘Wipe The Slate Clean’ as a heavy-ish mid-paced track complete with a lyrical content featuring a clever twist on the increasing effects of global warming told from the planets point of view, the track itself builds well to a catchy chorus while the version of this strong and solid track featured here is the same as that featured on the album and it works extremely well as a single. From the three remixes featured it’s the lengthy ‘Extended Version’ remixed by Paul himself that is for me the best of the three featured, it fully retains all aspects of the original while nicely combining it into a 12” style remix that we where so often graced with back in the 80s, it does simply extend the track itself with some nice additional touches of synths through out the later stages of the track itself, but don’t let its length put you off as it is an excellent remix. The second of the three remixes is the excellent ‘Monopoly’ remix, a very interesting remix that brings together a number of different styles with the over all structure of the single and general feel of the remix given a solid and bouncy Synth Pop style while blending in crashing drums and some warm, trance like synth riffs over both the chorus and various parts of the track while keeping the single intact while I have to admit that I didn’t like the third remix from Proc.S, its too Dance orientated for my liking with the single itself somewhat smothered and choked by the remix itself which meanders along aimlessly in a repetitive fashion doing no justice to the song itself which almost takes second place to the remix which in itself may as well be another track despite fully retaining the vocals and lyrics of the single itself. The excellent new track ‘The Voice Of Gaia’ offers something different with its treated vocals, solid and stuttering rhythms and piercing synth work to produce another very strong track.
The CD-Rom section features the excellent video for the single itself, its nicely shot and edited and looks very professional while also included here are lyrics, photos, wallpapers, a screensaver and those two free and exclusive MP3 tracks. This is an excellent single with some great remixes with a new track and the video with its CD-Rom content. Hopefully Synthpoppers will direct their interest in both this release and Seven Words as much as they would do with some of the more familiar names on the present English Electronic scene as Seven Words is clearly releasing material of a far higher quality than many of those names.
