Neuroactive, from Finland, first came on the electronic scene in 1991. Over the years, the band has consistently produced a hybrid of high quality techno/synthpop. This E.P. is another successful release, despite the E.P. being mostly a collection of remixes. “Wonders Of The World,” “As If We Didn’t Know,” and “Cover My Eyes” are all from the 2001 Transients CD.
The remixes highlight the club appeal of the highly addictive “Wonders Of The World,” the spaced-out synth of “Cover My Eyes,” and the classic synthpop of “As If We Didn’t Know.” The pacing of the E.P. is held together nicely by the slower “Until It Stops.” “REW” is a short experimental instrumental piece. The vocals are warm and rich. The music is layered in a sophisticated manner that keeps the listener interested. The only downfall is that this is a collection of remixes so the originality factor is missing. However, the remixes are strong. Overall, I recommend this release for fans of classic synthpop. If you are not familiar with Neuroactive, this is a good initiation into their world.
