A new name to many of you all perhaps but Hannes Medenitsch is no newcomer to electro as he was formerly a member of the excellent L'Aime Immortelle. This debut from ND shows why L'Aime's last album had so little electro influences in it as he obviously took them all with him. Yes, this album will be like a manna from nirvana for electro fans everywhere with 10 solid tracks that really hit the spot, coming across like an amalgam of VNV Nation, Covenant, Neuroticfisch (this list could be virtually endless!). The only real problem with this is that Hannes stamps no individuality on these tracks, you could almost be listening to anyone although in fairness this is hardly a criticism unique to this act. All of which doesn't mean this is a bad album, far from it, in fact it knocks spots off many albums I could name with tracks such as "Words Of Trust", "Unforeseen Desire" and "Imprisoned" all showing themselves worthy contenders with powerful hyperspeed delivery that makes the pulse race without fail. Another welcome touch is the addition of a couple of instrumentals with the reflective "Cold Vengeance" and the closing "Leaving The Shadows" proving that Hannes does treat instrumentals wit the respect they deserve and not merely as the weird couple of minute fillers that so many electro artists do.
What albums like this need, of course, are good memorable choruses and, to his credit Hannes certainly knows how to provide these in spades with "Bound" and the impressively muscular "Disease" both duly providing. This, in unison with the solid thumping beats is the album's strongpoint although I'd really like to see him do is think back about what makes L'Aime Immortelle such a wonderful band, take the essence of this and incorporate it into his own musical visions, then we might well be in for something truly awesome, as it is, though, if you're up for some good unpretentious no-nonsense electro that really rocks then you can do far worse than this.
