Advanced Revelation is a stunning display of melodic precision and explosive beats. This sonic burst of pure energy is tempered by the inclusion of short instrumental tracks such as ’Atom,’ ’Nova,’ ‘Expo,‘ and ’Eosm.’ These songs, along with the introspective ‘Victims,’ are the glue that hold the CD together as they add a well-mannered refuge from the frenzied norm. The eighteen tracks offer a total running time of nearly seventy minutes. Inertia originally formed in 1994 and the band has, over the years, successfully synthesized their own brand of electro/industrial music. The ominous urgency of the lead vocal and the relentless attack of the music transforms a song like ‘No Defect’ into a club classic. Another interesting selection was Inertia’s awesome rendition of the Traci Lords’ song ‘Fly,’ which is from her 1995 CD release 1000 Fires. Other highlights include the pounding percussion of ‘Gravity,’ the euphoric perfection of ‘The Place,’ and the manic instrumental track ‘Networks.’ As a whole, this CD pulses with creativity, icy production, and slick arrangements. Advanced Revelation is the aural equivalent of the electrical impulse patterns of a renegade neural network gone mad.
