Debut single and second release for Ganymede, this five track single features three versions of the single itself ‘Neon Rain’ including a remix by Lode (now Rubicon 7) and two extra tracks ‘Only Pictures Cry’ and an ‘Electro Mix’ of ‘You Look Like Someone I Know’ taken from their debut release ‘After The Fall’. ‘Neon Rain’ itself is an excellent mid-paced track that gains pace with the chorus while the vocoder on the vocals add to the track itself to make it an excellent single, there is also a ‘Dance Mix’, but thankfully not that kind of ‘Dance’, this version remains very similar to the original but this style of remix is more in the line of a 12” remix we would have got back in the 80s, an extended remixed version that’s once again excellent while Lode add another remix, this version is totally remixed with nothing of the original music remaining, just the vocals and light ‘hitting’ percussion, a disappointing and almost pointless remix that’s a wasted opportunity. The final tracks are the remix of ‘You Look Like Someone I Know’, a slower version that lacks the power of the original, it is excellent but a shadow of the original while there is another new track, the excellent mid—paced bounce of ‘Only Pictures Cry’. Excellent single, great lyrics, remixes (apart from Lode), new track and the front cover.
