Fr/Action’s ‘Crimes Of The Future’ is the ten-track Future Pop side project from David Friede from Ganymede, its released on their ‘Cohaagen Music’ label and unlike Ganymede this is pure Future Pop complete with semi-sung and spoken vocals that deliver a lyrical content that would not appear out of place in a John Carpenter film, least not ‘Assault On Precinct 13’.
Unlike so many of today’s releases ‘Crimes Of The Future’ doesn’t feature any remixes or cover versions simply an excellent selection of tracks with many of the tracks featured very much club orientated tracks with the dance floor in mind, no doubt many a club has already featured some of these tracks within their set lists, excellent tracks filled with following synth riffs and sharp catchy choruses like ‘Vigilante’, ‘Crime Pays’, ‘Revolver’ and the heavier ‘Inner Being’, the track itself is very much one of the highlights of the CD itself. Other tracks of note include the equally excellent and the more mid-paced tracks like ‘Guardian’ & ‘Death Wish’.
Not all the tracks featured are club friendly up-tempo tracks, there are other tracks featured included the heavy mid-paced rigid thud of ‘Corrupt’ and the two instrumental tracks, the opening and two-part ‘King Of The Streets’, the second and longer part closing the album itself and the mid-paced ‘Rolling Thunder’, all tracks in question are excellent and the idea of opening and closing the album itself with the two part instrumental does work very well and fits in nicely with the remaining tracks featured.
‘Crimes Of The Future’ clearly features the more melodic and Synth Pop orientated side of this Future Pop trend, of course that’s no surprise considering the Ganymede connection while despite the limitations of the vocals, they do fit in perfectly with the music itself. If your familiar with the releases Ganymede have made, then you have a very good idea of what Fr/Action sound like, very much retaining that melodic side of Ganymede but with that slightly heavier Future Pop edge. Another near perfect release that will further the already increasing reputation of the emerging label ‘Cohaagen Music’.
