The music of EchoRausch is a curious and often difficult blend of abstract noise and ambient melodic elements that, in places lean toward power/noise realms under repetitive rhythmic loops that vary from the trip-hop of "Pi" to the IDM touches of "Galerie 13". In the case of the opening "Sens" these can get pretty powerful, acting as a firm basis for the inventive soundscapes that are executed with a seeming random array of sounds and effects or, in the case of "21Net" sounds curiously akin to the loops that Gary Numan used so well on "Sacrifice" although any such similarities begin and end there, this is far harder work that is likely to fall into the 'love it or hate it' bracket. The subtle strings and tannoy announcements of "Velomar" might seem an odd coupling but it's one that works, making the most of the piece's 'picture music' possibilities, although, for the most part, any such goings on are contradicted by more leftfield touches although the house effects of "E-Step" or the closing "Velocity" which moves closer to more accessable electro styles should prove easier going for the unsuspecting listener.
With 17 tracks to choose from a detailed description of the album would be virtually impossible not to mention a good cure for insomnia but suffice to say that this, like the recent Male Or Female album is one to take notice of if your tastes stretch to the more unusual.
