If you're of the opinion that most electro has got a bit too soft of late then this album may be just what you're looking for. Yet another band from Germany Cyborg Attack make their mark with a full-on take no prisoners debut that pays homage to older more extreme EBM styles.
The concept of the album has been declared to be "A kick in the arse of all people who dedicated their lives to making money and getting power at the expense of others" (which the title, translated as "Blood Money" also refers to), a laudable aim, for sure although it's hard to see where this fits in with the extremely intense "Bitch" with it's repeated refrain of "Fuck you, bitch" sounding just a tad misogynistic. Musically speaking, this is an indication of the band's style throughout the album with the hammering rhythms starting up just a few seconds into "Blutgeld Part 1" (the hypserspeed part two closes the album, making for an overwhelmigly powerful, mind blowing finale) and barely letting up throughout with Sando Franz's harsh vocal style proving a most appropriate compliment to the music. This might have proved a little tedious were it not for the fact the band do also adopt a darkly melodic style which at least provides another element to their sound and so avoids the one-dimensional tag that certain bands in these styles could be accused of. The no-nonsense aggression and slam dancing ferocity of "Paranoid" and "Bloody Truth" provide a further hammering for the senses. The aggressive vocal style and hate-filled subject matter telling you pretty much all you need to know concerning what Cyborg Attack are about.
The pace is slackened somewhat with tracks such as "Agony" veering closer to more accessable electro styles, although the harsh styles are never fully lost while "Dunkle Visionen", "War Desire" and "Warrior" sound closer to the earlier works of Evil's Toy, not exactly commercial but easier to get to grips with than many of the other tracks offered here.
Sometimes uncompromising and never easy on the senses Cyborg Attack do show that electro music still has plenty to offer that is new, harsh and raw.
