RADIATE

If you're into Assemblage 23 & especially Icon Of Coil then you're going to love Control.Org, the solo project of one J.Taylor. Out of all the acts currently on the DSBP label these should, if promoted in the right places, have the widest appeal as all the essential 'future pop' elements are present & correct throughout, apart from the opening "Fallout", which acts like an overture for the album with a mix of industrial noises, a move which is a tad misleading as it's the racey electro/pop of "Synergy" that really gets the album up & running with the essential catchy chorus that crop up throughout (& a bloody good thing, too!). Tracks such as "Shadows", & the excellent trio of "Collapse", "Sacrifice" & "Salvage" all provide further 'future pop' fun & while you're all doubtless familar with the territory, Control.Org do it as well as anyone & Taylor proves himself a competent vocalist throughout. The layered rhythmic backing of "Indecision" does add a slightly characteristic touch to proceedings which is always welcome & the slightly more abstract "Blinded" likewise breaks up the more commercial tracks & by providing a little variety which is retained by the later 'Tension' remix which the album is all the better for. The spoken female vocals on "1.1.0" in unison with a developing melodic theme are another pleasing development while the Pollution Mix of "Chemical Burn" (a new version of an older track?) ends the album on another high note. An uptempo instrumental with a strong techno feel that will go down a bomb on dancefloors the world over, this is, in a microcosm what Control.Org are all about which means that you futurepoppers will not want to miss this one.
