ALAN BRANDO PROJECT

VARIOUS ARTISTS

A music producer is like a film director; the producer is the person who directs or guides the process of making a record. The music producer creates, shapes, and assembles the music developing an overall vision for an album and how all the various songs may interrelate. The producer controls the entire music creating process from recording to mixing to mastering.

Italo TNG (The New Generation) has brought some fantastic creative new music producers to the forefront and each has their own unique and interesting style. Francisco Quijada, Josep Viñas Puig, José Quijada, Juan Francisco Martinez, and Manuel Jiménez Martín the production team at the fabulous Five4it Records produce soaring harmonious vocals and musical breaks that lose the listener in throbbing electronics. Artist and producer Mirko Hirsch creates danceable musical drama with a touch of malice. Michael Nolan produces sparkling Italo etched with pop trimmings and engaging hooks, while Ken Martina manufactures music that runs the gamut from festive to edgy electronics tied to songs that can go from jubilation to despair.

The Aland Brando Project is 2 CDs, 11 acts and 21 songs from the captivating artists on Beach Club Records. What do all these acts have in common? They were all produced by the prolific Ken Martina.

The namesake of the project, Alan Brando, delivers three stunningly romantic Martina produced tunes, the beautiful “Once Upon A Time,” “One More Time,” and “Love is Always On My Mind.” Alan Brando is without a doubt the master of romance, he’s the guy that gave us the deliriously romantic hit of last summer “I Wanna Love You,” one of my absolute favorites. Another guy who does not skimp on romance is Aldo Lesina; his enthralling romance inducing song “Fly In The Sky” is also included.

The Martina produced grooves of Tommy Sun always make my body move. He had me hitting the dance floor or just shaking in my seat to his huge Italo hit “Dancer,” which is included along with his “Summertime” and “Beach Love,” which has those addictive Italo “oh ooooh oh” vocals. Also made for dancing and letting your mind go is Marco Polo’s “Dance All The Night,” in which Mr. Polo states “people are ready to dance” then delivers the music to have us shaking all night.

The dictionary says that a Casanova is a man noted for his amorous adventures. Well the band Casanova has one steamy Ken Martina produced adventure after another on the Alan Brando Project. First there is Casanova’s “Angel Eyes,” which contains keyboards that mesmerize like hypnotic eyes as the vocalist exuberantly cries out “your Casanova is here;” I love it. In Casanova’s fairytale like “Bella Donna” he comes across as a sexy lothario prince about to deflower an innocent princess. In the song “Casanova” he sings the praises of being a Casanova. You realize that Casanova is quite happy to be a romantic player/playboy and he knows that he is the addictive cure all for anything that ails a beautiful woman. He sings out he will “hold you tight, all the night,” then laughs a confident laugh because he knows he’s God’s good gift to women.

Boy Blue’s stock and trade seems to be despondent music filled with melancholic despair. His Ken Martina produced songs “One Day” and “Long Ago” are downhearted songs set to beautifully sad electronic dance music.

Ken Martina the producer of the Alan Brando Project is the master of electricity. Never hitting the listener with a blitzkrieg of mad scientist electronics, the technology never overpowers, it is measured and controlled shimmering liquid crystals of electricity with a stinging bite. The electronic wizardry of Angelica Rose’s “My Love Is Always Forever,” Elario Dante’s “One Day,” Angelico’s “On Fire,” and Martina’s own composition “Goodbye,” is akin to having an electronic orgasm.

Along with “Goodbye” the Alan Brando Project includes three other tunes from producer Ken Martina. Martina’s “Cinderella” is like an Italo music box melody with a dream like quality. “Love Is Forever” is stunning crystalline beauty, and “Another Melody” is powerful and engrossing. Whatever the melody Ken Martina creates excitement.

I’ve said it before, Ken Martina’s touch is not heavy handed; each Beach Club act has his/her own distinctive identity wrapped in Martina’s lush beautiful production. Be it the despondent Boy Blue, the dance maestro Tommy Sun, or the egotistically hedonistic Casanova, all are stimulating, enjoyable, and engaging.

Beach Club’s house producer Ken Martina delivered consistently excellent Italo tracks throughout 2012 and 2013, so get prepared for Beach Club Record’s 2014 Martina produced releases because I guarantee that they will be - bombastic.
