DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH
This fun slice of synthpop is a collaboration between former Avant Garde member Lars Wallden and David Mahr, released on the new US label Delicious Records. The colourful sleeve and label logo demonstrate they deal with the brighter, bouncier side of synthpop which will doubtless please any synthpoppers who like their music bright and breezey and easy on the ear with a sound very akin to Swedish band Daily Planet. The new mix of the Yazoo piece "Walk Away From Love" (another version appeared on the "Nobody's Diary" tribute album) proves that whenever you try to cover a Vince Clark track his influence is still paramount as the male vocals just serve to make this sound like an Erasure cover!!
Aside from Ganymede's Erasure-esque 'Yellow Magic' mix, the remixes seem to be aimed at the dance market, obviously in the hope of attracting a greater variety of listeners. Even Davdmahr's remix goes for the stripped down/dancey approach that, it must be said, sits well with the mixes from Pacific Mile and Return To Mono's slightly slower house-flavoured mix that should, between them achieve this objective.
There can be no doubt that this will have wide appeal and you synthpoppers will want to lap this up pronto.
