Biography
Marina Siertis, previously spelled Marina Sirtis, was formed out of the band Innocencia in 1997. At this time, the members were Anders Larsson (programming), André Öberg (vocal, programming) and Martin Löfgren (vocal, programming). Later on, in 2003, Martin Fridegren (Guitar, programming) joined the band. Shortly thereafter, Anders Larsson determined to phase out his efforts in the band. The first release of Marina Siertis was the EP “View from an Intergalactic Star”, which was released in limited edition in 2000, but received good reviews in European webzines. Aroused by the good response, the band decided to release their debut album “Delay and Depression”. After working for two years on the album it was released on the label Shadowplay Music. Reviews of their debut album “Delay and Depression” include: •“Fantastic vocal…wonderful synthesizer sound” – YabbasWorld.de •“A excellent CD for fans of darker synthpop” – Synthpop.net •“The best synthpop album I've heard this year” – Original Sin ![]() At “Delay and depression” there was some elaboration on using guitars, as Martin L had an old electric one lying around in the studio. The result can primarily be heard on the song “Den Tot”, which by the way is a great example of fucking up German grammar. As a result of that guitar, Martin F appeared on a live show at a festival and that was the beginning of the new lineup. The work with the second album, called “The much needed second cold war”, was started in 2003 and after four years the album is just about done. Last December the first single, “Disease” of the album was released. Within the last few months their single “Disease” has been freely downloaded over 50.000 times from their website. ![]() On the comming album Anders is appearing only sporadically, while the rest of the members have put in equal effort in the music creation. Concerning the roles in the music production, Martin L and André has so far made the demos including the lyrics, everyone take part in the programming and arranging the music, and Martin F is the technical wiz. On the new album one hears that the music influences of the members differ somewhat. If listing the five favorite artists of the members, put that music in a blender together with a portion of what has become the Marina Siertis sound and properly mixing it, out comes the sound of the “Much needed second cold war”. All Marina Siertis’ releases are available on major download services and in online record stores such as iTunes, MSN music, CDON.com, etc. ![]() A few Shows: 2007-03-02, Neostalgia, Deep, Malmö, Sweden 2006-12-07, Das Boot, Stockholm, Sweden 2006-03-30, The Vogue, Seattle, USA 2006-03-25, Bar Sinister, Los Angeles, USA 2005-09-16, Vintage club, Mondo, Stockholm, Sweden 2005-08-20, Sugarbar and Hatam, Stockholm, Sweden 2005-07-29, Daldansen, Sveaparken, Hedemora, Sweden 2005-06-13, Klub v Jelení, Prague, Czech Republic Discography: 2007: The Much Needed Second Cold War (CD) 2007: Minister Is Dead (CDS) 2006: Disease (CDS) 2002: Delay & Depression (CD) 2000: View From An Intergalactic Star (EP) 2006: electriXmas 2006, Various artists (CD) 2005: Neostalgia 2k-2k5, Various artists (CD) 2004: Our Voices - A Tribute to The Cure, Various artists (CD) 2003: Cold Hands Seduction vol. 30, Various artists (CD) Lable: Shadowplay Music |
