Known for shape shifting lizard qualities in both sound and appearance, he has appeared on stage in fearless pandrogynous get-ups and other assorted costumes in many venues of the South East USA for several years. He has also shared the bill with regional heavyweights such as Yip-Yip, The Emotron, Dino Felipe, Man + Machines, and Zom Zoms. Each show has an element of the unexpected with a healthy portion of chaos energy being released.

Most recently, Johan Ess has been a major contributor to shows for The Creature Tweaker Council, an experimental laptop collective based in the mega-nasty underground of South Florida. These biweekly themed events at the back patio stage of Churchill's Pub in Miami are quickly turning into a healthy networking point for burgeoning New Media artists.
