Biography Monolithic is the solo project of Midihead, who began his music career at the age of 14 as a DJ for a local radio station by day, and a mobile DJ by night. He used his summer breaks from school to blaze a path to a career in music. He started hosting youth dances with a friend at school whose father owned a reception center. These dances became very popular among teens in the local area, providing them a place to hang out and stay out of trouble. As he began to hone his craft as a DJ, he later on helped to establish a tri-music genre nightclub with his friend Diggabeatz, at the age of 18. The club's popularity soared after only a week in business and became the most popular in the state. After releasing a couple of albums and 10 years of performing many live shows, Midihead split from the band known as Paradigm in 1999 to try his hand as a solo artist. Monolithic was born, taking a whole new direction with electronic music and releasing his first solo album "Power Undiminished", on Flaming Fish Records. Later that year Monolithic was invited to open for Alphaville during their first concert in the United States. In 2001 Monolithic was awarded "Best Album 2001" for "Power Undiminished". Midihead was presented his award by legendary Information Society front man, Kurt Harland at the Roosevelt Hotel Ballroom in Hollywood.
After moving to Southern California, Midihead hooked up with publisher Black Toast Music and began to write music for television. He landed his first track in Fox's "Dark Angel". Shortly following his television debut, he released his second album "Dividing Asunder" on the A Different Drum label. More recently, Midihead's music has appeared in a "Matrix Reloaded" movie trailer, and in TV shows such as "Access Hollywood", NBC's "Las Vegas", "CSI New York", "America's Next Top Model", and "Prison Break", among others.
Most recently he has worked on music for Konami's Dance, Dance, Revolution series, music demos for Spectrasonics, ILIO, and AAS products, and has just finished up 2 remixes for Kaskade. All though Midihead has shifted gears, musically speaking...you can count on him to find time to release a Monolithic track or two for his loving fans in the very Near future. |
