From the shores of Singapore, Spikenard has beed long injecting
electronic music to the new breed of house junkies since 1994.
At the age of 7, Spikenard had always gotten involved in picking
up a wide range of intstruments like the trumpet, trombone, tabla,
drums, congas and many others.
His parents never really supported the fact, he wanted to be a
musician or A DJ.
Although they have had a very good teenage musical experience
together. His father was a very strict man who always trys to
steer him away from the wheels of steel.
The school he was at was all about grooming you to be an accountant or
a lawyer or in the army, he explains. I just saw that as breaking
the human spirit and constantly rebelled against it. I
instinctively felt it was wrong and pointless for me. Ive always been very,
very bad at respecting authority.
His Father had made him to sign up in the navy in 1995 but that didn´t stop him from
being a dj.`It was hard, i had to sneak out of camp every weekend or pay others
to do my weekend duties just to Dj´.
Spikenard Has had many influences since the 70´s & 80´s era. Some to name are
Depeche mode, Bros, New Order, Michael Jackson, Public enemy, Curtis mayfield,
The Parliament and Jimi Hendrix. At this moment he his curently working on remixing and
producing. Although he has limited knowledge in producing he has worked with many artists
in Australia, eager to learn from them many techniques, never failing to upgrade his
knowledge to be a fine and talented producer.
