Electro Torrents
OK, so I had this idea, I don't know if it will catch on but we'll see.
I've created this thread for people to post BitTorrent links they have created to stuff they want to share with everyone. This, of course, assumes people can be bothered to create torrents but if you've got something cool it would be nice to share it. and BitTorrent is probably the best way to do it.
For all the "what is BitTorrent?" stuff:
BitTorrent Wikipedia entry, Probably a good starting point.
How to start using BitTorrent to download files, should get you started.
Wikipedia's list of BitTorrent software.
So that should get you started downloading with BitTorrent! But we want people to share their finds!
A few guides to creating a .torrent file and seeding it.
TorrentMatrix's guide to making a .torrent.
How to make a .torrent with Azureus on a Mac.
Replace tracker URL's and stuff with whatever information is relevant to your .torrent in these guides.
It's probably best to upload your .torrent to one of the torrent sites and provide a link to it's page there so people can see how many seeds there are, a good Torrent site to use for your .torrents would be MiniNova with these open trackers:
http://tracker.bt-chat.com/announce
http://tracker.prq.to/announce
And above all, if you are going to create a .torrent and share something PLEASE REMEMBER TO SEED for as long as possible, 24 hours at least!
If this all sound like gibberish, you'll get used to it and you can always ask questions here, I might not have explained things too well!
Now, let me just say, DO NOT SHARE STUFF YOU CAN BUY...DVDS, CDS, CURRENT MAGAZINES ETC... I'm talking about sharing TV documentaries, TV & live footage, Music videos, old fanzines, your own music, free music you have found, that sort of thing. Use your common sense. For instance sharing the latest Mesh album would be wrong and very illegal, but I'm sure none would mind if you shared a documentary about Kraftwerk from German TV in 1985.
So I'll start then shall I?
Here is a TV documentary about the Pet Shop Boys from a UK arts series called The South Bank Show, it's from 1992. (VHS Quality - 636Mb)

Enjoy!

I don't know how to upload a torrent, but I can share an INCREDIBLY awesome live bootleg site. It's called dimeadozen.org. They have audio and video (dvd) concerts and other live performances on their site. The best thing is they do NOT allow mp3s of any kind. Most shows are either in flac or shn formats so there is NO loss of any kind. The site has tons of genre styles and bands as well. They only allow live material, nothing can be commercially available. You have to register in order to download. They do have an email service that notifies you when a new torrent is posted, whcih rocks! Be sure to upload as much as you download, or you will be stopped from downloading.
This was my contribution. You can thank me later.

OK, next up I have for you another documentary. This one from 2003 on UK TV BBC4, the subject? The BBC Radiophonic Workshop. The BBC Radiophonic Workshop should be a name well known to any fan of electronic or experimental music as they were truly pioneers in both fields as well as creating some of the most distinct and well...wierd TV music ever.
This is a very interesting documetary for any fan of Electronic music, Experimental music or IDM or fans of Doctor Who!
Unfortunatly it's in crappy .wmv format, but oh well!
