Whats up with the chat?
Is that feature coming back? Does anyone know? I used to really love our scheduled insanity sessions here!

They were during the daytime during the week. My employer has blocked all the fun, so I only saw the chat if I had the day off or was sick.

Damn, no wonder why crazy little me always missed those things then. My job rocks, but not so much that they let us get into these things during the workday either. Thanks for explaining.

You know, I have really mixed feelings on it. I loved the chat but it wasted SO much time that I could've been doing work. Of course, I just found other things to waste time.

I really don't know how anyone manages to get ANY work done if they can have access to chat or IM.

Tell me about it. Our IT dept. once came around and deleted all the IM software off of all the company computers. IM programs are now banned as a part of the corporate computer use policy. So now we just bring books, xerox the crossword puzzle out of the newspaper, or pass joke emails around to each other...

We've had internet radio taken away as well. I have NO idea how people in my profession have time to be listening to the radio online when they are supposed to be doing their jobs. I have a feeling that it wasnt us, but the clientele that we serve. ha ha!

OMG that sucks
We are allowed to use AOL IM and can listen to online radio. Then again, I work at a record label... It's a little freer atmosphere.

Yeah, my job also made us uninstall all IM software. They also detected I had iTunes on my PC and made me uninstall it. (even though I never used it at work). They've also gona ahead and blocked myspace and a bunch of other sites. I showed them though! If I use the URL "home.myspace.com" I can still get through. BUAHAHAHA!
(they're probably recording these keystrokes. Im screwed)

A friend of mine who is a music teacher and his colleagues got a memo from the school board to 'please remove thier profiles from myspace and respectfully decline from veiwing the pages while at the school'
Its too bad, but I know why they did it. Theres a lot of sexual preditors on there taking aim at school kids... In the end they are just protecting the staff.

I understand companies' policies on blocking Myspace and similar sites at workplaces, but that seems a little farfetched for a school to ask their teachers to remove their Myspace profiles. It's not like they couldn't create separate pages at home.
Rich, they don't let us use internet radio or any other type of streaming internet media at our company either. Apparently people were using up all the bandwidth, he he he... A couple of former employees were also dumb enough to download mp3s from P2Ps along with several viruses, which crashed the network. Oops! I'm afraid to check my personal email accounts while at work even for fear that they're logging my keystrokes. Sucks, but if work were "fun" all the time, it wouldn't be "work".
I just remembered this one as well...when I first started at my current workplace, I'd do some web surfing or whatever and always clear the browser cache when I was done as a matter of habit with using public computers. However, I was the only one in the group who did this regularly and the others who were used to just going to the history page and pulling up whatever couldn't figure it out. It sparked the rumor that someone was looking at porn at work! I so love my job...really!!! *LOL*
