[i]I like SALEMS LOT... The first time I saw that film back in the 80's, I had to sleep with the lights on for a week.. It freaked me out.,.,[/b]
I really want to check that movie out. I read the book some time back and it was pretty scary too. Really worth reading.

When I was little I used to get pretty bad nightmares from my father putting on the Freddy movies and stuff like that. I can't remember them now but some of those nightmares I still remember.

Word of warning. The movie didn't age well. I bought it last year to see it again since it had been way over 10 years since I've watched it,...and I pretty much sold it the next day.l
Still, the memory of how scary it was back in the day lives in my mind. :-)

Which one??? Original or remake??? I personally prefer the remake...Of all the movies redone, this one did better the second time around IMHO

My friend had me check out a movie called the Changeling this weekend....a 70's ghost story/mystery...it was slow paced, but i thought it was pretty good...kind of creepy, but not really scary...i also saw bride of chucky for the first time...really silly, and not even remotely scary, but pretty funny and a decent parody of the 80's horror genre....although the ending was kind of lame...anyway...cabin fever!! can't wait to see this!!!

I was too young then to remember what the movies were like. I guess I'll rent the first one one of these days.

The first one? Wasn't there only one Salem's Lot?

No, there was a Return to Salem's Lot. They play it on SciFi every once in a while, but don't waste your time.

Happy to help! I became obsessed with watching EVERY horror and Science fiction movie I could, both good or bad, at an early age. Strangely enough my mother got me into it. So as you can imagine I have seen quite a lot of REEEEAAALLLLYYY bad ones.

Recently I got into Japanese Gore films. I just ordered Versus and The Story of Ricky today. Can anyone suggest any good ones? However, I am not into the whole perplexing violence against women thing that seems to be in a lot of Japanese filmssuch as the Guinea Pig Experiment films.

Then you probably want to stay away from Ichi The Killer,...the bloodiest most violent piece of cinema I have ever seen.
