Best Compilation albums

I am always on the look-out for decent compilation albums to become farmiliar with new bands, but more often than not I end up purchasing cds that I just end up selling right back as used. As is the case this month, when I drive down to Philly to trade in over 30 cds for credit. Can anyone suggest some decent comp. albums more-so on the dancy side?

The cheapy Hot Topic comps are always good, especially the Metropolis ones. They're usually 6 bucks and hold all kinds of popular artists.

I can't recommend enough (if you're a synth fan) the Synthpop Club Anthems 1 & 2. Also cheap and there are some SERIOUSLY good remixes on there.

On the less dancey side, the HIVE Compilation is really good, but sold out now so I'll just shut up.

The Septic compilations from Dependent Records are also good.

And, to plug Dead Beat's new comp, there's lots of good stuff on HaLO: The Best of Madtown Electro and Synth (I'm a whore. I know.) Order it off of www.deadbeatproductions.com:)

A great compilation is also "POPAGANDA Volume 1"
has some exclusive, good stuff.

Besides the already mentioned Septic compilations put out by Dependant, a couple compilations that I personally have enjoyed (and have gotten a lot of use out of) would be the Cyberlab compilations (they're already on number 4) as well as the Cryonica Tanz compilations. Put out by Alfa Matrix and Cryonica perspectively.

Though I don't know what you like but I tend to lean more towards that trance orientated industrial these days.

im trying at poresent to get on Cryonica Tanz 3 well next year ill pay Alexysys to remix the follow uop track to my little number Revnege....

cyberlab comps jesus where do they sell such beautifull things me wants wants wants ..its not fair we only have to alrternative stores in the uk and they both dont stockl those comps?

I've enjoyed immensely the Ninthwave "Electricity" series ... http://www.ninthwaverecords.com ... Electricity 2, in particular, has some very good dancefloor stuff, as well as a new Heaven 17 song.

Also: Look out on Shadowplay Electronica real soon for the long-awaited Electronica in Shadows. I've had an opportunity to listen and there is a lot of surprisingly good material on it (especially Intricated, Stykfaktor, Nurvis, Kiss the Star, and Blind Before Dawn).

Some of my favorite comps of all time:

Dream Injections Vol 2 (Orbital, Download, Beaumont Hannant, Haujobb, Speedy J, Autechre, etc etc) - 2x CDs

Body Rapture (Old Zoth comp with stuff like Aircrash Bureau, XMTP, Yum Yum, Brigade Werther, etc)

Actually all the Zoth comps rocked: Colors of Zoth Ommog, Technopolis series, Zoth In Your Mind, etc

Mix, Rinse and Spin 2 on the ADD label was really good, as were the Electricity compilations.

For lesser-known bands, the two Shadow Dancing compilations on ADD were really good, too.

I have to say I miss the 21st Circuitry comps. They're my personal favorites. Don't know how easy the are to find anymore, but try:

The Tyranny Off the Beat comps were awesome.

Well, they started awesome but kinda ran out of gas by volume 4, but still.

And I still love Delay's "Working in a Factory" (what ever happened to those guys, anyway?)

I can heartilty reccomend both Ninthwave comps WXJL 1+2.

Lots of good stuff, including Macondo, Xero/g, Bit Pixel, Scapesonik, provision, Blind before dawn etc.

WXJL had some good stuff. I really liked the Carol Masters song that was remixed by Soviet (sounds like Soviet uses FM synths, I think!) ... I love this song!
