I love open-air opera's and also have been to a lot of traditional Celtic folkaire's! Homage to some of my bloodline! Also been to a few classical-type showings that feature artist who specialize in the cello (orgasmic) or violin (haunting)! Love it so!

Ha Ha, I remember them. That band had been forever removed from my consciousness until you brought them up. They had the black and yellow stripes all over everything, they had a song "Soldiers under command" (or something like that)" sadly I never got to see them live.
\"Man, you go through life, you try to be nice to people, you struggle against the urge to punch ‘em in the face, and for what?! For some pimply little puke to treat you like dirt. Well I’m better than dirt ... well most kinds of dirt. I mean, not that fancy, store-bought dirt. That stuff’s loaded with nutrients. I can’t compete with that.\"

Yeah..and "To Hell With The Devil"...they chucked bibles into the audience...it was a little scary actually...and they had this Japanese metal band called Loudness opening for them...Looking back, it was pretty damned funny...a friend took me...i went to see Kiss a week later and he quit speaking to me...lol...his family thought Kiss were the devil...god..if he could hear what i listen to now...

amy...as for soundgarden..they were just awful live...the only other band that i have seen that was as bad as them was alice in chains when they opened for Kiss at Tiger's Stadium...they could barely play (now i know why) and they were asses....

I've seen the country group Lonestar live. Them and Bob Sieger would probably be the least non-synth blah blah blah I've seen.

Hmm... on one hand NKOTB were... but then again they were more synth I guess than Cracker/Gin Blossoms/Spin Doctors, Royal Crown Revue/Pretenders/B-52's, Wallflowers/Counting Crows, Tenacious D, and Green Day... so I don't know
Nostalgia like a muthafugga in this piece.

Not exactly a concert, but there's this 'indie rock, hippie type' music festival once a year here that I went to a few times when I was younger. I don't think I could ever bring myself to go now.

yes Jonna - i love them

i saw them in the 80s at the old Ritz (nyc) before that shut down - one of the best punk rock shows i'd ever seen.

I forgot to add to my list - Alien Sex Fiend (I saw them at Coney) and Lush (at maxwells, hoboken)

I saw Ratt and Bon Jovi back in like '85. Bon Jovi was just starting out and everybody kept yelling for them to play "Runaway" and get off the stage.

Ratt put on a decent show if I must say so myself.

I also saw Jeannie C. Riley (she did the Harper Valley PTA song) at the Mt. Vernon Co. Fair in Ohio way back when I was a kid. That was the most boring thing I have ever done in my life.

    Unhappy

    Neil Diamond.

It was about 4 or 5 years ago. We had reserved seats, in the ninth row.

I didn't actually *buy* my ticket. My friend Beth had bought tickets for herself and another friend, but her friend cancelled on the day of the show. I wasn't doing anything else that night, so I went.

They didn't search anyone on the way in. Beth and I both had cameras. She didn't get caught, but I did. I took a picture of Neil Diamond, and suddenly there was a security person standing over me.

I was escorted into an office, where they confiscated my film and explained that they had to do it because Neil gets 'upset' when he sees camera flashes. They also told me they were going to hold onto my camera for the duration of the concert, and I could come and pick it up afterwards.

    I missed "Sweet Caroline."

For me it must have been either Coldplay last year, or...(brrr) Elton John in 1995, I think. Oh, well..I'm embarrased to admit I liked the show...
But there was a Greek synth group making mostly weird hypnotic f*****g awesome dark dancey music back in the 90's, called Stereo Nova. They were among the best, I'd been to 4 of their shows and each time I'd been left mesmerized. They'd done a few songs in English, and nearly became succesful with one called ''New Life'' (nothing to do with DM) in 1995. I think it was played a lot in Germany and it'd got a bit of MTV coverage. Later on they split up (they lasted from around 1990 until 1999) and they continued with solo careers, not nearly as good, though, but this was one band whose songs deserved to be heard.

Hmm. . . had to pull out old ticket stubs to remember what shows I've been to.

right off the bat, I remember:
    Echo & the Bunnymen
    Siouxsie & the Banshees
    The Primitives
    The Sugarcubes

But holy smokes! Old tix stubs tell me that I've been to:
    Fugazi
    Mighty Mighty Bosstones
    They Might Be Giants
    The Primitives
    The Sugarcubes
    Morrissey
    Elvis Costello

and one that really stood out. . . London Symphony Orchestra. Mom and dad brought me to that one, and it was really wonderful considering I know nothing about classical music. Soon thereafter, my parents gave me their old record player and classical vinyl collection : )
