Default Stabbing Westward fans Have Something New To Cheer About!!!

Thats right!!! If you were ever a fan of Stabbing Westward, you can't miss out on Chris Hall's new band "The Dreaming"...Currently unsigned, and playing locally here in So. Cal, they're beginning to get a huge buzz in the industry, and rumor has it, a deal with a major label is currently in the works...

Their sound is very similar to Stabbing Westward, and the live show is definately not one to be missed either...I caught their last show at The Gig in Hollywood on the 14th of this month and they blew me away...

They're playing at The Gig again in the coming week...June 6th@ 10:30PM to be exact...Heres the venue info:

***The Gig is a 21+ venue and tickets are sold at the door the night of the show. Get there early as it is a relatively small venue (~200 people) and may fill up early. The Dreaming will be one of multiple bands to play that night.***

For more info on The Dreaming visit their official site: www.thedreamingonline.com

Stabbing Westward has been talked about many times in the past eyezovjade. I dont really know how you should be telling 7red7, who has 3815 more posts then you, what does or doesn't belong here.

I'm dissapointed with the whole Christopher Hall thing. I never understood the reasoning behind SW breaking up, but it seems as though this is just a new lineup for the band. Granted part of it is do to his rather recognizable voice...but it sounds alot like rehashed non-self titled SW stuff. I was hoping for something a bit different.

But then again, I love SW so in a way I'm happy this stuff is coming out.

Man... I miss the ol' Stabbing Westward. THey were damn entertaining for what they were 5 years ago. Their tour with God Lives Underwater may be one of my favorite rock tours.

Cool!!! That's good news Dan. I'll give it a listen. Hopefully, the quality is better than the final SW album. Was it me or did you guys think it didn't quite measure up to the standards of their previous releases???

I really enjoyed the self titled SW album. It was different sure, but I liked it none the less.

I'll check them out. I really enjoyed SW's more melodic songs like "You Complete Me", and after hearing "Let It Burn" by The Dreaming....I'm sure we'll have a blast at the Gig.

knowing nothing about SW, i must admit that The Dreaming, having none in common with synthology, had impressed me a bit.

Of coz those roarers are fuking away from the level of my beloved Metallica but who cares when ya had a bottle of Stoli liquid down the stomach

Stabbing Westward was awesome. I do agree their 4th album (2001's Self-Titled one) was not completely up to par with the previous 3...but it was still very good. I'm very much looking forward to The Dreaming. Just listening to a 30 second clip was enough to reaffirm his voice sounds better than ever and completely brought back Stabbing Westward dejaveu. Who cares if the new band doesn't do anything dramatically innovative to set itself apart from Stabbing Westward. I'm looking at it just as a "new-lineup" too. Boooyaaa, more of Chistopher Hall's awesome and distinctive voice to come!

Wow!!! See I knew there were still some of us remaining fans here on the old EGN

And hey Kris (Destral) the support buddy, much appreciated And your absolutely right, we've talked about SW a lot before around here...They do incorporate keyboards and all, and even if they didn't...Hell they freaking rock!!!

I really liked the self-titled album too...It was a departure from the previous sound, but the songs were really emotional IMO, and pretty damn deep...I Remember (as sappy as it's gonna sound) was my breakup song that Summer *LOL*

I think The Dreaming is just another incarnation of SW too, the sound is way too close, but again as Destral said it's also due to Chris's distinctive voice...I'm looking foward to T he Dreaming putting out their debut album, and the show at The Gig next week

firstly, my friend, you can't have heard tooo much of their work to make that statement. there's synths all over their albums, particularly the earlier ones. pretty impressive, too, in places

secondly, there's room for more here than just Depeche Mode. there's a whole world of exciting music out there that Electrogardeners can learn from.

the last thing synthpoppers want is to be labelled as elite and close-minded? I thought you all prided yourselves on being the opposite of that?

after all this talk about how to get synthpop into the 21st century and revise everyone's preconceptions about how it's irrelevant wimpy ineffectual muzak that belongs in the eighties, I'd have thought that some pointers elsewhere (and the very idea that you guys all need to listen to something besides DM and it's many clones) is the answer to your prayers!

that said, Dreaming looks pretty cool but hasn't really progressed beyond where SW was.

For me, their first album "Ungod" is damn good...Mike recommended it to start with way back when...I was hooked immediately, and went out and got Wither/Blister, and Darkest Days...The last album you also asked about is also worth picking up...Believe me Mark, I know how you are about intense emotionally charged songs, and this album is right up your alley bro

Ungod has that darker, industrial influenced sound in it...Lot's of keyboards, heavy guitars, and brasive lyrics...Violent Mood Swings says it all

Amen to that!!! A lot more than just DM in this world today And I fully agree with the Dreaming not being quite beyond the SW element yet, but keep in mind everything is still in the rough demo/live show development stages...I hope they can manage to become something in the long run, Chris Hall is probably one of the best frontmen I've ever seen play live...So much talent, so much energy...

Exactly bro...That album had so much raw emotion...Just about every song is wrapped in self-torment, frustration, and love lost...

For those unfamiliar with the self-titled release, I'll illustrate with a couple lines sewn together from the first five songs...

"Everytime I touch you, you feel so far away. Why can't we be, perfect like we used to be? We swore our love would never end, we knew we'd always have a place in time. I've spent, my whole life, running from a cycle of self-destruction...And I've spent, my life, trying to numb the lonliness away. And now you've grown to hate me, even more than you have grown to hate yourself...And I tried to make you happy, but now you share your pain with someone else".

Deep lyrics huh??? I think so anyway...Some of the best material Chris Hall has ever written is on that album...It's like the consensus says...It's not like their older stuff, but after a few listens, it will definately grow on you

Precisely. Before SW, it was considered extremely rare that music have that level of emotion AND still have "balls". This is one thing that they've definitely contributed.
