that event was nothing but a stupid caricature of what "fair-play" should be. just remember, normally TATU is being sold pretty much good in the UK but those prudish pseudo-conservative britts gave nil to the girls... what da fuk some one might say...
no wonder, Britain became a marionette and the mimicry for the europian countries. as TATU sang out "dont trust - dont be afraid" and "........fuk Eurovision".

Honestly I don't give a flying fuc|< about either T.A.T.U. or the Eurovision Song Contest, but for the sake of accuracy, T.A.T.U. didn't even made it 2nd... Belgium got the 2nd place.

Yes, t.A.T.u were 3rd and no I didn't watch it. I only know about it was all over the news as the UK entry Jemini got Nil points for the first time ever. So funny...

The thing is that the Eurovision has a reputation for:
    a. crap songs
    b. crap song that are so crap they're good (gotta look hard though)
    c. its totally fair and unbiased voting system

An example of (c) is that Greece and Turkey can be banked upon to give their "friendly neighbours" Cyprus maximum points (10 or 12) and that Cyprus will return the favour. This can be seen right through the voting system and is so transparent it's laughable.

The main reason people watch it is because it is a good spectacle and the commentary provided in the UK by the sublime Terry Wogan just rips the p*ss out of the whole thing very subtly.

The major story about Eurovision in the UK at the moment is why Jemini got Nul points. Their performance was bad, but it has been argued that the sound was all wrong and the singers couldn't hear themselves. The current popular theory though is that it was a political gesture for Gulf War II. The latter wouldn't surprise me as I'm lead to believe there were just as bad performances, and the fact that we have consistently been in the top 10 bar a few glitches.

As for t.A.T.u, you should look beyond the hype and image. Their album is a corking piece of work, lots of good strong songs. I think they have staying power once the furore over the lipstick lolita lesbianism goes away.

Oops…. Sorry for that mistake. Yes, apparently Belgium was finally ahead of Russia in this last minute battle.

But hey….give T.A.T.U some credits for keeping electro sound alive. It’s incredibly hard enough for any electro artists to break into mainstream and be successful as they’re let alone a foreign group from Russia. I couldn’t care less about this contest either; however, I support any electro artists and their achievements regardless. That’s why I posted this news here. viva electro. Cheers......

I think the whole lolita-lesbian thing is boring, but for some reason I actually like some of the stuff on their album....

@ FxBoy: TATU keeping Electro Sound alive?? Oh dear... I think that is an insult for all REAL electro acts like mesh, melotron, welle:e, NCOR, Covenant and so on!

Yeah, that was kind of a ridiculous statement. I'll admit, I just started listening to Tatoo (or whatever) and while it's fun, in a guilty pleasure sort of way, it's not going to be enjoying a long life in my cd player. Another disposable novelty act. Here today....where tomorrow?

If TATU is electro, then almost anything in the current TOP40 is electro, plus the whole lesbian lolita thing feels like a total fake to me.

Trevor Horn produced the album so I think his "electro" influence is apparent. Horn has produced albums for ABC, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Art of Noise, Pet Shop Boys, Propaganda, Simple Minds and Spandau Ballet.

Well I’m better than dirt ... well most kinds of dirt. I mean, not that fancy, store-bought dirt. That stuff’s loaded with nutrients. I can’t compete with that.\"

Not completely true. Trevor Horn produced only 5 of the songs on that album, and two of those were the same song performed in Russian. So that's really only three original songs.

You must admit that the song they performed sucked big time? The only reason to why they got so many points as they did is the fact that they´re already famous.
The suckers that made up the rules forbid tatu to kiss each other, strip or anything like that. They weren´t even allowed to hold each others hands, but they did that anyway.

    1. Turkey (Sucked really hard!!!! CRAP)
    2. Beligum (Strange song....surprising that they got so many points)
    3. Russia (tatu bla bla)
    4. Norway (sweet guy with a sweet song)
    5. SWEDEN (Fame, don´t like them at all.)

Personally, I would have seen Germany as number one. A perfect europopsong!! (Lou-Let´s get happy) Really makes u smile!!
But if I followed my heart, I would loved to see Poland as the winner. A very special song!

i must say i was VERY surprised Sweden reached fifth place! i felt so ashame.. worst song since 1997, when a group named blond won the Swedish contest.

Do you mean Marie Bergman? He made a song called Stjärnorna (The stars) together with her some years ago.
