Default Bizarre Love Triangle on EGN charts

Am I the only one who thinks this is a terrible remake of a classic? It's got to be the worst thing I've played here at EGN, but it's now in the top 10.

Listening to it right now. Couldn't help but start laugthing when the vocal came in.
It not hard to get on the EGN top 10. It is sufficient that maybe 3-4 people download the song once per day for a week or so. The recent play count is cumulative in some way.

I find it a bit worrying that there are covers getting onto here : surely the participating bands can't have convinced the publishers to let them post mp3's ?

Next we'll have a thousand DJ remixes of depeche mode tracks.....

Originally, the charts were designed to allow lesser known artists to "accellerate" and get a chance to get their tracks up top and get exposure unlike other charts where no such accelleration was possible. Since we had a few comments sent in and it appears that this may not be what visiting guests and members are interested in, the charting system has been adjusted recently to present a more traditional vector where absolute popularity will drive the system. So you should start to see the charts slowly shift to present what is, in a traditional sense, most popular among members.

I think the programinig is really well done, but I am not a big fan of the vocals. A little too "show tune-ish" for me.

Haven't heard the version of the song in question, but I much prefer Entropy 64's remake of this song ... a very faithful rendition if I may say so.

yeah, I hope e:moderne got permission to release this track. I am a big New Order Fan, and I would hate to find out that the version was done without permission.

I laughed. I cried. I gave it a chance, and then I pushed the stop button. The programming was tolerable, the vocals reminded me of karaoke - and I live in Japan so I know what I'm talking about.

I get confused in the area of recording a cover tune. I believe if you can get a license to record someone else's tunes. From what I heard, Cleopatra Records does a lot of stuff along those lines.

While we're on the subject, what is the deal with remixing? How does an artist legally put out a remix of a band like Depeche Mode or Wumpscut without having to pay the original artist? I mention the previous artists because I have specifically downloaded remixes by them.

Both Wumpscut and Depeche Mode had remix contests via their websites.

Also there are a lot of good New Order songs I wish bands would stop covering Bizzare Love Triangle. I am a huge fan of New Order and I've been sick of the original for 10 years...

Hehe, after reading your small reviews here I just had to run to the charts and give this song a listen.
Heard the intro, so far, no problem, sounded decent.
Then, the vocals came and I, just like the rest of you, couldn´t help a little laughter to come out of my mouth.
The cover was quite good if it hadn´t been for those....special vocals! As someone wrote in the review over there, this cover would have been perfect as a suprise song on a live show, but not as a released song like this.

That used to be my fav song,... j.k....... No offense to EModerne but I think he should audition for American Idol. I wonder what Simon will say?

Won't be looking for other tunes by this artist anytime soon. Regretful voice added to one of those mini-Casio keyboards you could by from the JCPenney's catalogue a decade or so ago.

I am never the one to say that any band/artist is bad...I won't even go as far as breaking my rule and saying that about this nad...BUT...I will say that the vocals are um...??? Not so good...Hey much credit to them for making music period and wanting to do it, however I think it could have been done a lot better, and made us all laugh a lot less

Im listening to the first e:moderne song right now (one night stand). Actually it isn't that bad. Gonna listen to the third song also. Probably all e:moderne songs will reach the top. It shows that all publicity is good publicity.

    maybe something like...

"don't take this the wrong way but was one of the worse covers i've ever heard in my life..... dreadful."

    all kidding aside...

it's actually not as bad as some of the stuff i've heard from other EGN artists, but I have to agree, the vocals need work. The production seemed ok - If they're going for an "electroclash" type of sound, then they're on the right track.

(don't want to be the one who breaks the news to them that the Electroclash phenomenon is just about over and done with tho)

That was truly a terrible cover, both musically and vocally. Embarrasing, actually. Although it's not indicative of most EGN artists, there are several charted tracks up there equally as wretched.

I don't know about this one. I really like the static/tape hiss at the ends of the song, it's a nice touch to the production. Sadly I can't diss it too much musically, but I'm hopeful that this is the cover to end all covers of "BLT" because, even as a hardcore NO fan, I am damn sick of the song. I was inspired to look further into e:moderne, and his album is apparently available at ADD. Listening to his originals on EGN his music & production are fairly solid, but I don't know what to say about his lyrics. Maybe his campy photo at http://www.electrogarden.com/artists/emoderne/ might shed some light on that. As his bio says " Remember the name, e:moderne, you won't forget the voice."

For remixing and covering, you must contact Harry Fox agency. There are other agencies too. There are different fees for broadcast , pressing, and internet downloads. It can cost between 80 to 1,000,000,000 dollars. Airplay is cheaper or anything that's non profitable. I am assuming e:modern cover was minimal fee arrangement, because you couldn't download it.

Anyway, that song sounded more 80s than original 80s version..
Lots of cute tingle bells sounds... Rhythm made me feel cute and icky. Beats sounded very sissy and corney, but I enjoyed synth sounds. Great keyboard sound programming. Nice choice of sounds. I would give it a 4 for sounds that were used. I am starting to get little tired of hearing boing boing 8th note in synthpop... If artists are going to boing, use subsonic bass tone along with the kick... that gets rid of the cheese in the pancake.

Don't change it that way.. Please....
Why don't you just rotate songs instead of having top 20? Charts are going to be based on who has most friends in electrogarden.com. That is even worse. There will be more ass kissing than it needs here... Don't be a papa smurf. Also, getting private IM about click my song for me to get to the top. This site has more political bull shi* than Pentagon. I think rotation will make people want to click on the listed songs on the main page.
    Please consider my idea.

\"The world only goes round by misunderstanding.\"
    - Charles Baudelaire

    \"It is quality, not quantity.\"

\"why is it feel like a greatful dead show here? like that hippe that constantly talks about one band and how they changed their lives.\"

PLEASE NO MORE \"I am a robot music.\" You are not a robot. Learn to program better like human beings.\"

Electro is House music. If you don\'t like House music, please don\'t put down Electro, because it is trendy to say it. It might suprise you that Electro and House music were invented by Gay Black Americans in the mid 80s. They weren\'t invented by the beatless people who like to coin new trendy phrases.

I am so tired of \"I want to be Depeche Mode or Erasure for the last 25 years.\" I hope I am not the only one. 25 years is a quarter of century and about a 1/3 of human life. If a person spends a 1/3 of his or her life having the same tastes, I don\'t know if that person acquired enough information to have an interesting life or has a problem understanding he or she is no longer a teenager.

So called artists who never change, why do you call yourself an artist again?

Think pop has a point about the ass kissing. Rotation would work for me. Or at least having some mix. I don't know.
