It's 2009 and I'm curious to see who is the next Nirvana and change the music scene again. What sound is the next big thing. Lastly, will we see a resurrection in the style of synthpop? I want more Cut Copy'ish bands though.

I'd put my money on the next big thing being something that is already here, just not mainstream yet. I don't think it's so much that a new type of music is just going to emerge out of the blue so much as it will emerge from relative obscurity and be fawned over by all the twats who only get their sources from the radio and MTV.
"next big things" are usually just a mass appreciation of something others have been enjoying on a far smaller scale.

Except Brittney pop. I don't know where the hell that came from.

It would be nice, but realisticly? Didn't Nirvana help kill the 80's sound anwyay? Or was it Perl Jam? Anywho.... If there is a next wave it would be something totally off the wall and get embraced by the new generation and any of us who are even talking about synthpop would probably hate it, bad.

Brittney pop is a pleasant alternative to Miley pop, iCarly pop, etc. etc.

LOL Don't forget Tisdale pop. Hey, how do you know all those stars anyhow? Are you a secret fan of Miley?
