    Cool information Society

    love the pixz.
Interestingly enough just 4 days ago I had two lines running through my head that I could not remember what song they were from. They were the sampleed line "it is useless to resist us," (from the original Star Trek TV show) and the line "let's go free, let's go free, let's go free, let's-let's-let's-let's go free." Something told me to pull out InSoc and I found it, it was their hit "Running Away." It was so cool, listening to it brougt back memories of hanging out at da club and I got those lines out of my head.

"it's useless to resist us" and "let's go see" are from "Walking Away" song... aside they didn't used the sample "let's go see" in the performances over here, I think it's the first time that they played this song without the samples...

was a little weird, it's like "What's on your mind" without "pure energy", but was great anyway... :P

    Default Walking Away

oh yeah, the song's title was "Walking Away" (not Running) and it's "let's go see" (not free)....man, did I really screw that up, but the song is 16 years old (and my brain/memory is 16 years older too....so i'm not surprised I got it all wrong).

But what did surprise me is how well the song has held up (and doesn't sound at all dated) after 16 years.....it sounds wonderful...great song. But many of the classic synthpop gems have that quality...they still sound great, fresh, progressive and undated.

    Default 21 years!

again you caught me asleep at the wheel, yes that song is 21 years old. It made me think, 1988 was a big year as the following acts (that would be familiar to synth pop/electronic music lovers like ourselves) had hits that year:

    "A Little Respect" - Erasure
"Blue Monday 1988" - New Order
"Boys (Summertime Love)" - Sabrina (not synth or electronic, but is one of my guilty "italo" pleasures)
    "Chains of Love" - Erasure
"Domino Dancing" - Pet Shop Boys
    "Dreaming" - OMD
    "Fine Time" - New Order
    "Heart" - Pet Shop Boys
"Left to My Own Devices" - Pet Shop Boys
"Mercedes Boy" - Pebbles (not synth/electronic but I love the opening of this song "mercedes, mer-mer-mer-mer-mecedes")
    "Ship Of Fools" - Erasure
"Stay on These Roads" - a-ha
    "Stop!" – Erasure
"The Blood That Moves The Body" - a-ha
"The Promise" - When In Rome (wow, i had forgotten this song. what ever became of these guys?)
"Whats' On Your Mind(Pure Energy) - Information Society
"You Are The One" - a-ha

InSoc indeed had a release on Todd's A Different Drum label a couple of years ago ...

All but one of the songs featues an entirely new vocalist ... Kurt sings on the other one. Quite a good album, from what I have heard.

they released a kind of "dance/poppy" album in 2007 with another vocalist... aside the other vocalist was good, the album wasn't oriented to the same feel of the old ones, really nothing serious with few exceptions...

2 tracks from 1999 when Kurt & Paul went to record together which could be great with a different production... the track "synthsizer" is cool! and the best thing on the album is the new track "seeds of pain" sung by Kurt, but for sure wasn't the vocals that made this song so great...

have also a couple of other tracks that COULD be cool, if oriented to another way in the production... well, is just my opinion... dance music fans seams to love it... but I and most of the fans didn't.

on the shows here they played aside all the big world hits, also local hits as slipping away and come with me (sadly they didn't played in Rio CWM), 1 new "dance" track, 3 from 1999 (1 unreleased) and thanks god "seeds of pain"

was a LOT better than I could expect... was really a amazing night! :P
