Thread: Tek Noir - 90's Brazilian synthpop

Default Tek Noir - 90's Brazilian synthpop

I have been looking for old synthpop bands and I came across this duo from Brazil. Their CD 'Alternative' came out in 1990 and unfortunately I've never heard of them until now. I got a copy of it and it's really good music with a very 80's style to it.

    Anyone familiar with them?

Wow, very old school. It sounds very early 80's.

There is also a TechNoir band from Germany that is synth-oriented. Sounds like a very popular name in one spelling or another.
...I sure hope this is the real deal.

Ok. I'm going to see if this will work. Here is "Alternative" for download seeing as this is WAY out of print.

Don't remember these guys at all. Did they ever see any popularity with a hit song or something or was it mainly underground?

Maybe. I don't remember hearing of them at all back then. I was all about Red Flag and Anything Box (when they both were synthpop bands) at that time. Maybe it was just down in South America and maybe Europe. Europe seems to be a great place to be a synthpop artist. They actually get played on the radio, play big shows, are on TV and all that. I wonder what the Tek Noir guys are doing these days.

Probably not much. There is certainly no demand for that style of music today. Unless they went on to other projects chances are they hung up their hat a long time ago. But maybe I am wrong.

P.S. You are spot on about Europe although it may be changing now. For a long time though synth music got a much bigger venue there. For sure.

Fortunately, I demand this style of music today! I've always marched to my own drummer...(drum machine? lol) and I will continue to do so. My current fascination is with Northern Kind from the UK. They are awesome!

WOW! first time I heard that someone know about Tek Noir from outside Brasil that wasn't introduced to the band from myself! hehehe

this is the first LP, his second is FAR better aside the first is also great. I have a recording of they playing live in a Radio over here.

I heard they opened to first Information Society's show over here in 1889! but I can't say that's really true.

I really only knewn this band from a friend in SP, this band seams not had much attention anywhere aside underground scene in SP on that time.

sad, because was the best synthpop band from Brasil ever made!

I have the original first LP, but I never even saw the 2nd LP EVER...

Thanks for that link to the second record+. I haven't been here on Electrogarden for a long time. Glad to see this thread still active somewhat. The more 80's style synthpop, the better!

You are right they weren't a big hit...unfortunately! Just in the underground scene. Never heard of them since... Alive they great too!!! But there was also a girl singer and another guys, not a duo
