    Default Favourite Band Ever

Ok, I'm sure we all have loads of bands that we love but which one is your favourite ever? You are allowed one band only! No multiple choices!!

For me, without doubt - mesh

Does it have to be a band, or can a solo artist count?

Solo artists are okay too. Just trying to pin everybody down to 1 artist

One band hmmm. Information Society. They released 3 great albums that no one has ever even come close to. A combination of new wave, hip hop, and techno, with samples galore and a singer that had a good voice plus they played almost everything live. No band can top this.

Aw man, you guessed my favorite non-solo-artist band!

    Just kidding.

Actually, MWH would be rather high on my list; I wore out my original cassette of Rhythm Of Youth during my teenage years and had to get a new one. I was pleasantly surprised for my birthday this year by a couple of Men Without Hats "best of" CDs.

Also on the short list would be Mike P.'s choice (InSoc)-- gotta love that "Think" video!

Still, of all the artists out there, I'd still stick with Howard as #1. Human's Lib would be my one "deserted island" release.

I probably shouldnt be posting this but, I recently purchased the Rythm of Youth on CD. There were some tracks on that that I had totally forgotten about. Good album! Their last one was terrible! What happened?

You know, ever since I got the new Howard Jones, I've been meaning to pick up his first (i never did back in the 80s). You're definetly sparking my interest even more!

You have the full Rhythm of Youth on CD? So far as I know, the only official CD issue of that was an extremely limited run, like 50 of them, some years ago. That is, unless Ivan & Co. managed to get the rights back to the album and re-released it after all these years. The import "The Very Best Of" CD is essentially a compendium of RoY and Folk Of The 80s part 3, but it's missing a few tracks from both, including Ban The Game, Ideas For Walls and Mother's Opinion.

Which "last album" are you referring to? "Adventures.... In The 21st Century" (their last US major label release, circa 1989), "Sideways" (a Canada-only major label release, early 90's), or "No Hats Beyond This Point" (self released just a few years ago)?
    My thoughts on those:
    • Adventures: It's okay, but not inspired.
    • Sideways: WTF? The Men do power rock. Ugh.
    • No Hats...: Truly their latest, and although they've returned to their synth roots, it seems a bit unrefined, at least from what I can tell from the samples available on their site. At this point, the band is just Ivan and Stefan, and a ProTools rig.

You should be able to find Human's Lib for purchase virtually anywhere online, including Howard's website. (Howard has also released all his videos in iPod video mp4 format on his site, for free download.)

Also a good choice. "Beyond Here And Now" is a Modern Synthpop classic.

I've noticed your avatar is Red Flag. Have you ever thought about changing it to Neuropa? (Not criticizing, just curious...)
