That isn't true at ALL. It is so easy to skip the behavior pattern software. Only thing AV and Spyware detection programs do are maintain the database of known programs. It is so easy to write a software and not let things notify and also it is proven that writing a stealth program is so easy. Many AV and firewall products run stealth mode, so malicious programs can't disabled them. If these programers can make them, it is easy as a pie for anyone to do it. In our recent tests, we found various modified Norton Antivirus that were repackaged and floating around the net. When it updates, it notifies the sender where is your location and sends back garbage (not update) when we ran a network sniffer.

Yes, you can... It is very possible to be secure. What you are saying is, "you can get aids everywhere, so why not fuck anyone?" I can protect a company by 98%. If I can't, people like me wouldn't have a job. Stop using pirated software, but if you do, don't let the machine out at all and use seperate machine to surf the net. Start using freeware and open source products. If you are going to be foolish and steal software, I will give you a good hint. Please rely on certain warez groups that use CRC identifier or MD5 identifier and who post those information on the certain web page, so you can see if the package wasn't modified when it got to you. Modifying packages are a joke. There are so many wizard based package makers. If you don't assume software associations are modifing software themselves to figure out how many people stole their software, you are not thinking. According to many security forums, ananlysts are finding few million zombies trying to log on to the irc. Why IRC? Because locations can be changed every time. All waiting for commands. The best thing to do is create a block list of all the known IRC at the firewall. Our government is currently discussing about banning the rootkit technolgy in America, but who cares at this point? Anything valuable on the net never disappears. Combination of rootkit and applying self-healing packages (msi) and renaming codes to the exe. You will never catch that software until you format all your drive that you have been attached to. The biggest way to avoid being paranoid is STOP stealing software if you don't know how to get away with it. What's worse is kids who use crack software and only have one way firewall, so everytime app is launched, it phones home. 98% of new apps are internet based for getting updates. You have to let the dog out.

Well, that's what i said in my first post- Be secure!! (I wasn't limiting it to those only programs either, the more secure, the better..) Then you said it was pretty much impossible.

Listen, i'll admit that i'm guilty in a small sense of the word; I'm an art student who's going to be paying 26,000 in tuition every year for the next 4 years, i can't afford to dish out the $1000 bucks for the Adobe suite (photoshop, illustrator, etc)

Anyways, i'm just saying sometimes you have to resort to it. And in that case, be as secure as humanly possible!!!! Don't leave your computer open like a book, it's so easy to do.

Warezing in the 80s and 90s are totally different than today. Just be very careful. Not to mention, people can easily purchase a map of all the ip address for a cheap price that will tell you where the location of the COs. I know it is really tough paying for all these software. Right now, the software industry has been very kind to personal uses unlike the RIAA and MPAA. They only have been concentrating on the warez groups, companies, and foreign distributors. If they ever get dried up, it will be going after the users, but it seems like cracker kiddies are modifying software to gain financial benefits than a glory. Today cracker kiddies are getting greedy. Creating zombie machines are number one reason why we get so much spams. Cracker kiddie can easily own 1000s of machines to send out 100,000 spams per second.

pirated software = many have trojans such as keyloggers. installing pirated software in corporations = pack your backs. you are never coming back here. many software companies that is immediate terminations. i thought you knew this stuff. i thought you were involved in IT? so do you install a keylogger for yourself? do you say to yourself, "i want to spy myself, because my other personalities must be hiding something." hmm...

By the way, it is possible to create a crypto drive that is invisible and trigger the apps if you can remember the password and path, but it isn't recommended in Windows due to possible of virus finding that drive or partition. It will take few years to crack open an AES crypto drive with the current processors. I don't recommend any piracy, but crypto your drive if you download movies, mp3s, and have secret data, and put everything in the encrypted folder. I hope you kids know, beause you emptied out your trash can, you cannot assume your data is gone. Your data never disappears until it gets overwritten 3x. Check out a program called, Eraser or other government standards. Most likely, average JOES in RIAA or local cops will have hard time figuring out until they bring the super specialists. My friends and I tried to forensic an AES drive, we gave up after two months, but the technolgy is made by the government, so it might have an unpublished backdoor. Who knows. Nobody has all the information in the technology.

No...but I see where you are going with this. I was refering to post #12, where you out of the blue start throwing "Spanish" into your arguement.
