Thread: Your Favorite B Sides

    Default Your Favorite B Sides

Depeche Mode has had an extraordinary amount of singles throughout their amazing career. The other day I decided to go thru my stacks of DM cd singles and was once again reminded about how much material I would have missed out on if I had not purchased the singles. Lots of remixes have stood out on their own.

My favorite B side..."Dangerous" which did receive a modest amount of airplay in my area. Actually one of my overall favorite DM songs. It holds up very well over time.

Now...What are your favorite B sides, perhaps stuff that a lot people haven't heard? This can include remixes of songs that were hits as well that are completely different from the album versions.

We were discussing this in the MODyssey thread... Oops. My fave DM b sides are:

    "Dangerous"
    "Sea of Sin"
    "Happiest Girl"
...basically every b side and b side remix from "Violator" rocked.

And then there are the singles that were not originally released on an album. "Shake The Disease" one of my favorites. Great vocals. The first time I heard them perform this live was on the "Black Celebration" tour. What a great moment!

    In no particular order.....

    (Set Me Free) Remotivate Me
    Sea of Sin
    Fools
    My Joy
    Shout
    Happiest Girl

These songs have stood out as my favorite all time best of Mode's B-sides.

I used to love "Happiest Girl", but haven't cared to listen to this song the past several years. I guess it got old quick.

    My personal favorites are
    Ponytail Girl
    Any day
    Dont get there
    Tainted Love

(This is of course the famous Kazaa Exciter B-Sides which were so great to anyone who actually listened to depeche mode)
I can say I have discovered many great new bands to fill in the 4 year gaps between Depeche Albums thanks to the Exciter B-sides..

    Color Theory is awesome
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time.

    Sibeling.

Wow, haven't that one in ages. I forgot how haunting it was.

My Joy, Slow Slide Mix. Probably my favorite.

Was it Fletch who said something recently about the band putting out an all b-sides album or something? I'm not as hardcore as I used to be with that kinda stuff, but that would be cool!
