Default Looking for mid-tempo Synthpop bands to listen to..

    Hello,

I've been on EGN since August of 2003, and have heard some great bands and music, but looking for my particular taste...

This is Joe Ramey of The dark synthpop band, EuroVision.
If you've heard our music, most of it is mid-tempo, kind of in the
Depeche Mode range..Not much dance or uptempo..

Thats the kind of bands I'd like to find, and listen to.

I bought the State Of SynthPop 2003 compilation, and really liked it, except a high percentage of the music on the 5 CD's is upbeat or dance music..Some I really like, dont get me wrong..

But I liked the "slower" stuff like: "Emotional Machines" by Wave In Head, David Mahr's "Century", B! Machine's "Victim",
Invisible College's "Fuel", and many more of the "Slower-Midtemp" music alot more..

What artists would you recommend for this style??

Is Wave In Head really like this one song, Cause i've heard his other song "Progress" and its more like dance..Is his other stuff like "Emotional Machine" or more like "Progress"??

So far of the mid tempo bands that i've heard, I liked:

    Null Device
    Intricated

Any more to check out thats along these lines?? (I'm making my christmas list for my wife to buy) ...

    Thanks..

    Joe

Yello is always a sure thing. Dieter's vocals are some of the lowest I've ever heard, and half they're stuff is down tempo synth pop.
Camouflage-Sensor is really downtempo with no house beats whatsoever. Sort of a radio friendly "Ultra".
    The Nine, too.
Not too much that I can think of right now.

It may not be pure synthpop (i.e. really light) but Diorama's The art of Creating Confusing Spirits is the best dark synth CD I've heard in over 5 years. Excellent singing, epic song-writing.

    Hey Joe ...

A lot of Wave in Head's stuff ranges from the midtempo to club friendly ... most of it is a bit on the melancholy side, especially if you check out stuff from his debut album "Time to Speak" - without a doubt his best album in my opinion.

Here's a few others I like (all of these can be checked out here on EGN except where indicated):

Belton - The song "Guilty Pleasures" is awesome. http://www.mp3.com/belton

Seven Words - Paul Adams does interesting stuff, some of it quite moody.

Gebrauche Musik - Really experimental stuff, but great!

Red Flag - Needs no introduction. Their music is really very close to your Eurovision sound.

B! Machine - more dark stuff. http://www.wishduck.com or try their label, A Different Drum

Leiahdorus - Piano electronic pop that puts me more in the mind of artists like Alphaville or Tears for Fears.

Lucide - Darkwave gothic act from Texas. Check out "Shutting Down" or "Release". http://www.mp3.com/lucide

Atlantic Popes - A project featuring Max Holler, and Bernard Lloyd from Alphaville. http://www.atlanticpopes.de

    Thanks!!!

You know, me being new to this place since August, I've heard alot about Red Flag, but never heard any of their stuff..
If there is one album by them you'd recommend to buy that would be considered their best, which one would that be??

How about De/Vision..Which album by them??

Anybody else got a list of bands in the mid-tempo/down-tempo synthpop style that I should check out??

Also besides the bands, maybe list their best albums too that you'd highly recommend...

    How about the Beloved? http://www.thebeloved.com/
Plenty o' free downloads to get you started, and who can resist free music?
I HIGHLY recommend "You've Got me Tripping" f. Neneh Cherry, and "Deliver Me" - Johnny $ Remix (Yes -- a Sarah Brightman cover) I think you'll like. I really wish this band was still pumping out music like they used to. *sigh*

Here are some albums that you might want to look into:

Moon Safari (AIR) - Synthpop meets Pink Floyd !!!!

    Avalon (Roxy Music)

    Dazzle Ships (OMD)

    Architecture & Morality (OMD)

Phantasmagoria (The Damned) - AWSOME Darkwave album !!!

Ego Tripping At The Gates of Hell (The Flaming Lips) - Great EP

The Ambient Collection (Art of Noise) - Very mellow, if not offbeat

Travelogue / Reproduction (Human League) - Mellow, pre-Dare material

    Euphoria (Insides) mellow 4AD

    Morning Dove White (One Dove)

    Oxygene (Jean Michel Jarre)

I'd also suggest anything from: St. Etienne, Dot Allison, Modern English, Book of Love, Dead Can Dance, Red Flag, Bryan Ferry...

what about Escape with Romeo? I heard they are pretty mellow...

Vitesse - "You win again, gravity" is a pretty nice record as well. It plays like a mix of New Order & old OMD

I suggest Slayer, Cannibal Corpse and GWAR...those guys always help me relax into a deep funk.
