What kind of advice are you looking for? I consider myself pretty stylish. Business suits and whatnot during the day and inventive club stuff some nights. My girlfriend actually makes club clothes from scratch I just manipulate and add to things. She makes fun of me because I have more clothes then her and her sister combined.

Now there's an idea . . . maybe Jup could be on the next season of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

I love that show! But I think they should do "followups".

Jup, whats your fashion problem, at my office, there is a bunch of uber-hip-on-the-edge-of-fashionista interns... I can do a compare/contrast inquiry with them

hmm- i like clean-cut dressy clothes- figure showing (but not tight) collar shirt...slim pants...hmmm- simple jewlery- big brands...no cheap imitations..even though the imitations are usually no less in quality...yea- and scents always add a nice touch. I like buttoned up shirts.

black is usually my color of choice- but colors like navy or maroon are nice too =)

Thank you everyone, I think...actually my avatar changes daily...first, because I have to check that my photo equipment is working, and, I feel as though the Net can be impersonal, so you should see what I look like everyday!

The reason I pose the question is not so much that I am a disaster (looks at piano key tie--j/k), but instead I need advice for a particular occasion. I've always liked the look of Hugo Boss, but have gone for Lauren or Armani. I have a big speech that I am giving in the near future and want to buy something by Boss that challenges my somewhat conservative nature...I don't wear a lot of black, but it intrigues me...and, I'm wondering about the monochromatic look, given my mug and new black hair, which you've all seen...

Ha! Swank, I am doing just that...the flyer for the London Forum concert. My question is--knowing what I look like...at least from the neck up--can I pull the Duran look off?

And, Jamie, I am somewhat adventurous...but, I am taking this step by step!

One thing that always seems funny to me is someone in a really expensive suit and they decide to wear shoes from K-mart. It actually is noticeble, especially to women. Avoid that pitfall.

Another thing is that the colour of a suit may seem great to you, but look misplaced on you. Find something that is complimentary to your skin tone.

As for dress shirts, I would not advise more than one colour on it. But get something that has a texture and is not just flat fabric. This makes things alot more interesting. The tie should complament the shirt and vice versa.

and NO I am a straight man!

Black seems to suit me fine, based on skin tone, and now, perhaps hair...no K-Mart shoes...I usually go with Cole-Haan, depending on the cut of the suit...I think what I am trying to do is look a bit less stuffy than I come off traditionally...believe it or not!

Hey, Jonna, I am straight and have a cabinet full of skin care products and know who Manolo Blahnic is...not bad for a straight guy, eh? I guess the new term is "Metrosexual?"

Who cares anymore? Style is what you make it! I'm sure you'll look great, whatever you wear, Jup!

    Sure.

    Dear Jonna's Mom,

Jonna is a good boy, and very fashion forward. He treats his cats well and gives good advice. Please excuse his eyeliner.

    Sincerely,
