Just wanted to throw in a general question as to what people are using for drum sounds. What is your favorite drum module, drum VSTi, etc..? I sometimes hear some great song with these amazing drum sounds and wonder what the heck they are using to get that great sound. Like what is that snare sound?? :)

I personally veer between using my Virus, Waldorf Attack, Albino and the occasional cool drum loop.

My two big favorites are the korg er-1 and novation drumstation. You can hear the pair of boxes on Tidal Waves by EIght to Infinity on this site . (see charts)

I'm presently using my EMAX II sampler. I scavenge from other sampler libraries and convert it to EMAX format with Chicken.

MPC2OOO, REDRUM, KONTACT, BATTERY, Real drum set with NTK and C1 mics, & Simmons.

If you have any questions about the drum programming, ask me offline. The rhythm programming is something that I have been doing a lot for myself and other bands. We also go to the studio and cut real drums patterns too.

Fruity loops, Reaktor, and DR-008 (all soft synths).

If I can't find it I record myself hitting it. (they call that sampling in some parts :)

i organize them by machine, genre, or something stupid if it's a kit i made.

If you can afford it, NI's syntheticdrums sound lib sounds great!!!

All my drums are synthesized.

Kick drum: Yamaha DX-100
Snares: Korg Poly-800 and Kawai K-1 usually, tho the DX-100 is getting more snare duty lately
Hi-hats: The Korg or the Kawai

If anybody wants my dx patches, go to http://burp.nl/dx :)

Battery, Attack, and a mess of sample CDs and libraries. And I'm still trying to figure out how to tweak compression to my liking. :)

Drum editting in general is an art I want to learn. There are so many cool ideas and techniques out there these days it really has put more musicianship into electronic rhythm tracks. (where you can create rhythmic ideas that make the concept of a live drummer almost seem boring)

I use the Redrum box in Reason 2.5, like binaryzero I use folder of organized samples to build custom kits. I'm digging the sounds of the Elektron Machinedrum though. I wish I could afford one.
