Explain your avatar/sig line!

I haven't seen a thread on this and I thought that I would start one. So what is your current avatar and/or signature line of?

My avatar is a blue tinted Lain from the anime Serial Experiments Lain. Just think The Matrix x1000 in anime form.

My sigs tend to be bits and pieces from when I use to write poetry/prose. Just various philosophical viewpoints babbled while under water.

My avatar is a small part of the album cover to The Cameleons "What Does Anything Mean? Basically". Though I do tend to change the avatar quite often because I get tired of looking at the same image time after time. Perhaps if I didn't talk (post) so much, I wouldn't feel the need to change it so often.

Now, as for my signature line, it has three parts to it. Part the first, Phuturist Electronica is a genre coined by Ross of Goteki to describe his music. Part the second is something I barrowed from a speech given by Nick Cave entitled "The Secret Life Of The Love Song/The Flesh Made Word". I have always been fascinated by the idea of love being a form of madness as well as the idea of love and the love song in general. And as for part the last, it's simply a link to where I leave my emotional scrawl.

My signiture line is my favourite quotation from Oscar Wilde, who is one of my heros ( the others being Lord Byron, Andy Warhol, and Steve Strange). It is from his play Lady Windermere's Fan. The quote sums up my philosophy of life. I might be in the gutter, but my head is always tilted to look at the stars. I suppose you could rephrase it--We are all in America but some of us are looking at England or we are all in Kansas City but some of us are looking at London. Sorry, I have a one track mind! The quote now appears in an altered form on the Thought Criminals website but the alteration will be corrected soon for copyright reasons.

My user name is interesting becaues it was my stage name at university because I played a dominatrix in the musical A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. It was also going to be my stage name as a teenager because I wanted to start a syth band called Russian Roulette. Obviously Top of the Pops was not ready for La Marquise! The dandy Highwaywoman part comes from Mr. Adam Ant, of course!

My sig obviously is a line from dM's 'One Caress'. I love those words and "Tame me with your tenderness and break my brittle heard, easily and elegantly tear my world apart" from 'Surrender' the most! Hard to make up my mind which one to choose as my sig. They both express a lot that I can relate to.

My avatar is of one of the Sam & Max characters, from the cartoon, Sam & Max: freelance police. I don't think it still exists, but I used to watch it in the late nineties. It was messed.

Any cartoon that makes reference to things like Apocolypse Now are cool wtih me. And it was a Saturday morning cartoon, with all the kids' stuff -- not one of those 'adult' cartoons on Comedy network.

I finally changed my avatar to show "A04 as dj/promoter" as opposed to "A04 as musician without new music for a long time" now that my own little new wave/electro club Project:ELEKTRA is under way in Tokyo (yeah). And yes, I'm lit up like a Christmas tree.

I believe my signature still contains the phrase "self-proclaimed electromilitant" which was a phrase I came up with to describe myself circa 1990. I just felt that people should be proud of their synthetic tendencies. Play it loudly, proudly, and piss people off. Because we ARE the ALTERNATIVE to Alternative music. Crow 242: Go to the main forums page (Community Home under the Community menu at the top of the screen, or by clicking the Community link at the bottom of the screen). Your avatar shows up near the top right of the screen. In your case it will be a blue/black box with "No Avatar Selected" in it. Click on that box, and it will take you to your member options section where you can select a custom avatar that you upload from your computer, or type in a URL for a link to an image. Your avatar cannot be larger than 120 x 120 pixels or something like that, and has to be in .gif or (I forget the other) format...If the picture's too big or is the wrong format the server won't let you upload the image and will tell you why. Hope this helps! :)

You can also edit your avatar by going to "My Options" under the "My Garden" menu at the top of the screen and looking around in the edit options menus until you find the one about avatars.
