Hey Gang,

Looking for comments on the Birthday Massacre. I was recently introduced to this band (Thanks Craig), and I absolutely love their music. The Website is simply the best I've ever viewed, lots of flash, so I don't know how well it reacts to the 56k community, but if you have high-speed i-net, you have to check this out!

I'm curious as to why TBM is not signed, or are they and I missed it.

All in all, if you have heard this project, post your comments here.
If not, I feel that you need to check them out!

TBM don't need to be signed right now. They are selling more CD's and gaining a wider fanbase representing themselves than most bands who are signed. They also do something that many signed bands have yet to learn - professionally & effectively promote & market themselves. They have one of the best DIY approaches I have seen in a long time and think it will benefit them far more than getting signed would. Besides, bands don't need to be signed anymore, they just need a decent distribution partner.

to set the record straight ... TBM have only sold 500 records to date. They only pressed that many of their debut release. Their new CD is due out this summer ... They sure could have sold more than 500 copies if they had pressed more. The strength of TBM's marketing is the fanaticism of their street team and the average age of their fan base is about 16 years old.

In order for TBM to get out of the local Toronto scene fully, they should venture out and tour. I know they recently opened for the commercially successful goth/alternative band VAST. I have yet to hear of any dates outside of the Toronto area for TBM, although I have not kept abreast of their happenings for about the last 30 days.

TBM are doing something right cant compalin about that I wishb them all the sucess they can get and if they have a 16yr old fan base theyre doing very welll !!!!!:) To get kids into that stuff is hard as most kids justt want rap nu-metal or chart crap in the Uk .

and we have a winner.

I might add that if you do a search on "Birthday Massacre" on this very site, if you're very percptive in spotting "trends", you'll notice that they're being marketted right under your nose..

maybe right as you speak...

Yea they're pretty good - but I remember Amy discovering them and telling me, Criag and everyone else here well over a year ago (or more) here about them!

hah! i guess no one listens to girls! Typical :p

I think they have the "image" thing down - I'd like to see them live or hear the full album to really see how great they are.

Yep, I took cliffs advice (?) and searched EGN.......found the original threads about them, almost 1 year old......so, once again, Sean is wwwwaaaaaaaayyyyyy behind the curve....but Oh well, I dig 'em, so that's that!

I just went to their web site....what can I say that would possibly do it justice? If anyone thinks they have EVER seen a site more incredible, please tell me about it. That is hands down the most alluring programming I have ever seen. The band images part is such a fresh concept!

Oh, and their music is pretty decent. Very radio friendly. I can't believe they aren't huge.

I discovered this band about 8 months ago, and the cd hasn't left my regular rotation pile...I definately agree that their web site is simply amazing, and as for marketing, they actually empower their audience to promote for them (pretty brilliant if you ask me...) They will send you promotional kits -- just sign up on their web site if you haven't already.
