from "remember the eighties":

ERASURE have announced more information about their forthcoming hits
compilation which is set for a September release. 'A Little Respect' will be
a double CD set including a CD of acoustic versions of some of their best
known songs, and will feature all their singles to date. A DVD 'Total
Respect' is also planned. ERASURE are working on new material, but it is
currently unclear whether any of their new songs will be featured on
September's compilation. You can read our recent interview with Erasure's
Andy Bell in the INTERVIEWS section of the website

I am having issues with this whole acoustic business. If they go acoustic, I will most definitely stray. Please say the new album is Erasure - esque!!!

Ooh...thanks a bunch for letting us know, Jamie! :D

And I'll have to respectfully differ from you. I think it would be cool to have a CD of Erasure's acoustic versions of their songs. The only one I haven't liked so far was "Oh L'Amour", but I only heard a 30 second clip of it, so I might change my mind. I don't know if I would enjoy it if they completely ditched their synths though. It just wouldn't be the same any more.

i still haven't understood why phantom bride was never released as a single (at least as far as i know). that song rules!

but then again... guess there were like 7 or 8 potential singles on that album.

That's okay. I meant that if they stray from synths altogether. Like I said in a.m.e... Erasure wouldn't be Erasure without those trade make "blips", "boops", and "beeps". It's what hooked me. I would definitley buy the Greatest Hits CD.

There have been many overlooked Erasure songs that should have been released. I think "Catch - 22" would have been a surefire hit. The Remake of Ike and Tina Turner's classic "River Deep, Mountain High", was nothing short of brilliant. The list goes on and on. One of my friends enjoyed "How Many Times?" (From "Wild!"). It could have gone places. It's all a question of marketing, and the orders in which singles are released. The artists themselves should have more say.

I am definitely buying the new CD in September too. It's about time they did another compilation of singles, since Pop only covered the ones through Chorus and the Abbaesque MCD.

Isn't Vince a big collector of synths? I heard that he even had a museum or something like that with all his old equipment, but I could be dreaming...I don't think they will go completely acoustic (full time) because of that.

The acoustics that you hear, are synthetic. It sounds real, but then again... Listen to "Piano Song". The beginning sounds real. But the fact is, it was a synth, that was put in a large room, and miked. Sounds real, but it is, in fact, not.

Yeah, but a song like "Perfect Stranger - Acoustic" (a B-side to the "Am I Right?" LCD) is actually Vince playing guitar. I'm guessing that's what they'll do. It sounds really cool, actually. And they've had "real" instruments before. Yeah, sure, Piano Song was samples, but Vince has played guitar on a bunch of tracks, and they've had guest musicians playing trumpet and such.

It's just a bonus CD, there's no reason to think they'll become a folk-rock band. :)
