Just for the history. There are official cassette demos and there is no information about it. It's missing piece in the history of the band.

they might have their reason. the band is now just 50per cent.
how does other bands make it ?
does depeche mode ever speak about their first songs or name them on their page ?
Be happy that you know about it. i also have official recordings of various bands and i am happy that just i have it.

Depeche Mode doesn't have even UK discography on the homepage. And I'm very happy to know about De/Vision demos. I don't have them but anyway happy.

you can find old bootlegs on soulseek. they aren't very good, though. i guess it was before steffen learned how to sing.

You're welcome.
there's the 'Tears of missing years' bootleg, and the 'live at the golden krone in darmstadt' bootleg from 1989 (which is really bad).
i think theres newer stuff availible, too.

The demos are so cute! I like it because it sounds so amateur... You can hear how they've got better.
About DM bootlegs- there are 6 songs:
1. Addiction (also known as "Ghost Of Modern Time").
2. I Like It
3. Reason Man
4. Television Set
5. The Price of Love
6. Tomorrow's Dance
You can find them everywhere & every curious fan knows about them. It's not the same with D/V (Hajas, I think, gave me the list of their bootlegs... if you want it- let me know).
BTW- Nevernever & Newernewer,
I thought you are the same guy... until I saw you're talking to yourself too many times. :D

oh yeah, mr Hajas, like i said before: one time a bootlegger, everytime a bootlegger.
but fans want to have this recordings and thats a big problem for the band / management. they have their reason whe they don't support informations or copies about this recordings. if the band name this recordings official, then everyone want's to have them and then the trading and bootlegging increase. (it harm the band because the band don't want it and someone use the music without paying to the band for it)
in hollywood or russia people don't know the difference between a bootleg or an official release of de/vision. people pay a lot for recordings and there is no money for the band.
i hope that the buyer don't care about the bad quality and the kind of singing. as long as they don't think that the official de/vision releases have a bad quality. but as i told you: some people don't know the difference between official and non-official.
in case of problems: official is that what i on the official webpage.

Lorenz,
I'm a bootlegger too... ;)
I think that a band SHOULD publish the names of the songs that are bootlegs to prevent bootleg sales.
A fan will buy everything he sees... BUT if the songs will be well known & every fan will be able to find them on the net, he will NEVER buy it.
Somenoe who isn't a fan will never buy bootleg either.
Before the internet-thing I bought DM bootlegs. Now? I will never buy it because I can find it for free & I know the band doesn't get any money from that...
An original CD I'll buy for sure because I know I'm supporting my favourite band that way.

not everyone can download the songs and so they prefer cd-r bootlegs.
through the internet, bootleggers get the music for free quite easy and can create easier bootlegs (also with the lyrics and photos and cover).
-> but that is part of the musicbusiness and i just can be happy that there aren't so many bootlegs of "my" bands around <-
even when de/vision or a band would release a list with all their songs, you will not know which VERSION is official.
