I discovered De/Vision very recently. The only album I own so far is Monosex. I love it.

I'll be amazed if anyone can actually answer my question, based on what little information I have.

There is a song that gets played at clubs here in LA. I haven't been able to understand the lyrics; but when they get to the chorus, the music stops and the vocal is sung through a vocoder. It repeats a couple times, and then the music kicks back in.

I would guess that this song is about 130 BPM. It's in a minor key.

I heard it for the second time last week, and someone told me it's a De/Vision song. The first time I heard it was the previous week.

Does anyone know what song this is? Is it from their newest album?

Maybe it's "I regret"? It has so many remixes... and I think you mean one of them.
This song is from the beautiful "Fairyland?".
Please let me know if it's this song... Or maybe I should think harder. :D

Maybe "Drifting Sideways"? It's off their latest album Devolution and there are several remixes available on the Digital Dream EP.

I believe you are right, Labrat. I have the CD single (Remixes)... Minor key... 130 BPM (+/-)... AWESOME mixes. Incredible song!

I just ordered the Digital Dream EP from Todd and got the shipping confirmation two days ago. Yes, it's a great song! I don't go to clubs much, but the last time I was at one, they played a remix of "Drifting Sideways", so I wouldn't be surprised if this is the song in question.

I'll let you know whether or not it's "Drifting Sideways," as soon as I get a copy of either the single or the Devolution album.

(p.s. In the chorus of "Drifting Sideways"....does anyone happen to know the lyrics?)

Well, it definitely ISN'T "Drifting Sideways."

I heard the song again last night at a club.

It's "Heart Shaped Tumor," and it's from the album "Two."

Before I posted here, I managed to find a web link which allowed me to play a small portion of the song. The link is here:

It's definitely the right song. And apparently there are several remixes on the single, which is shown here:

So my newest challenge is locating a copy of this cd single. :)

You probably mean the "Icon Of Coil Mix". Some of the DJs play it here also. I don't like that remix because "Heart-Shaped Tumor" is a beautiful quite song & this remix doesn't fit the way Steffen sings & to the music. D/V has enough "dancy" songs so why don't the DJs play them? :rolleyes:
It's not like I don't like remixes. I don't like that one especially...
I know most of the people like that remix... I don't. I really love Icon Of Coil though.

They should play the remixes Mesh has done for them - very dancefloor-oriented! (especially my favourite, the Strange Affection remix)

This is the other remix I really don't like... ;) I didn't write it before... but I think this is another remix that has the same "problems" HST remix has. I mean- Beautiful original version that doesn't need remix.
I like all the other remixes of De/Vision.

BTW- I'm a Mesh fan too... :)

Don't get me wrong, I definitely think the "original" version of Strange Affection is the best. I suppose you could say that messing with the tempo might ruin it for you, but I think it works with the Mesh remix...

I love the original version of Strange Affection; and being a Mesh fan, I'd love to hear their remix.

What other Devision songs has Mesh remixed? Are they all on one particular cd?

Strange Affection (Strange Affection-Remixes)
Hear Me Calling (Foreigner single & I have it on a CD-"Mix Rinse And Spin - Volume 2")
Digital Dream (Devolution Bonus CD, Digital Dream EP, Drifting Sideways US Edition)

The other two are great remixes.
