Everyone,

For those interested, this is an announcement for the "HaLO: The Best of Madtown Electro & Synth" compilation on Dead Beat/Sonic Mainline Discs. It's a DIY compilation of Madison, WI artists that will rock you like an electronic hurricane, both on the dancefloor and at your home.

Only ONE track has been released previously (Signal 12's) and the rest are awesome. It's got a preview of a track off the new, as yet unreleased, Null Device album, as well as the first original Stromkern track since "Armageddon" came out, plus a whole bunch more! Side projects from ND, S'kern and Oneiroid Psychosis are also present, most of which will be heard for the first time EVER on this comp.

It's got everything from industrial to synth to electroclash and powernoisey stuff. It's got a few funny tracks on it, too (m00ntz!, The Gothsicles), so it doesn't take itself too seriously.

Alex Matheu of Negative Format'll be mastering it and it will be available in mid to late July. We'll have sound clips available of several of the tracks, as well.

The disc is only going to be $10 and you'll be able to order it online off deadbeatproductions.com once we set up the PayPal account. We're hoping to have it put out by some of the nationally distributing big guns too, so keep your eyes peeled.

All DJs interested in a limited amount of promotional copies (which will be mailed once the master is back) should contact promo@deadbeatproductions.com. Include your DJ name, snailmail address, where you DJ, and a setlist, please.

Anyway, here's the tracklist (and the order, not the songs, may change)...

:The HaLO Compilation:

1 Stochastic Theory- Shared Lies
2 Ensku- All is Fair
3 Brian Schuh- The One Who Dismissed Me Again
4 m00ntz!- I Don't Want Her (And Neither Do You)
5 Echo Virus- Stranded (8 Hours)
6 Signal 12- Anesthetized
7 The Gothsicles- English License (The How-Did-We-Get-On-This Comp? Mix)
8 Null Device- Electrified
9 ctrlshft- Halflife
10 Oneiroid Psychosis - First the Head, Then the Body (instrumental)
11 Caustic- Incendiary
12 Stromkern- Ruin
13 The Dark Clan- LeStat in Cuba

And email me at info@deadbeatproductions if you'd like to be put on the mailing list for the comp to know exactly when it's coming out, or if you have any questions.

Thanks!

-Matt

That is so cool all these bands are out of Wisconsin, forget Salt Lake! ;-)

Not merely wisconsin - that's just *Madison*. If we included Milwaukee it'd have be a double-disc set. :)

Yeah, for a city this size it's REALLY rare that we have THIS much amazing talent. Seriously, this isn't some tossed together comp with half of it crap, nearly EVERY track is sweet (I'm reserving judgement on mine:) ) and I'm really amazed and honored to be putting it out.

I really hope ppl grab it, as it's going to go pretty fast (only 500 are getting printed). I'm putting myself into a nice chunk of debt for it, but I have a ton of faith in these artists and THEY SHOULD BE HEARD!

So, now they will be.:)

You synth fans are going to bug out to Brian Schuh, by the way. IMHO. His song is ENTIRELY too catchy.

First off, I love the name of the m00ntz! track. Sounds like it would be worth it just for that! :)

Secondly, I applaud you for doing this. Years ago, one of my bands was on a DC based electronic comp. I will not name names to protect the guilty, but it was the worst collection of music (I use the word music loosely) that has EVER been assembled in one space. I felt kinda ripped since our song was a SONG at least. I've shied away from local comps ever since but if you have the talent to support it, then GO FOR IT!

Thanks for the support! Yeah, it's really amazing to have a comp with so many established artists like S'kern and Null Device with incredible tracks, and then you've got projects like Stochastic Theory, who has some success on another comp (Septic III, specifically) and now I get the privilege of putting out a track which I think is *just* as good as his breakout track on there.

It's very cool. I hope others dig it, too. We're all putting a lot of heart and quality into this so I hope the peeps appreciate it.

-Matt

PS- m00ntz! is going to take over the world!!:) It's a song about the wonderful world of psycho-chicks (or alternately, psycho-guys) and it's kinda the "all-star" exclusive track on the comp, so you won't find it anywhere else ever. It's getting a lot of local interest already.

Scar, out of curiosity, was that compilation released as a tape and had 'SPR' printed on it? Audio Love...does that ring any bells?

Here are the only hints I will give.

It was a huge waste of a CD investment by all bands involved.
The initials of the comp were A.E.T.T.A.
You probably never heard of anybody on it and thank God, you probably never will.

Not to sound self-centered but my group's song was a pretty good track. At least we had vocals....a structure...something resembling a tune...halfway decent recording gear....

'Ruin' has been played live by Stromkern since 2002, and it's a great song. (I've been waiting for the studio version ever since.)

Wisconsin can't compete with Utah for skiing but it's getting there in synth. ;)

And the m00ntz! track is the most electroclashy thing on the comp.

I've had the privelege to hear many of the tracks so far - they're all of really good quality. A lot of really good, clever songs and many have just absurdly good hooks. I'm proud to be associated with these people.

As I hear the other tracks that are going to be a part of it and as I hear the inroads that Matt's making with the promotion of it, I get more and more excited about it. It's gonna be quite a thing, I'm honored to be a part of it. I'm particularly proud of the Stochastic Theory track that's going on there.

Also, m00ntz! will 0\/\/n j00.

A semi-related side-note...

I had the good fortune to listen to the stuff Brian Schuh is doing - he's got a track on the comp called "The One Who Dismissed me Again" - because he brought over his whole demo.

Okay, the production is a little rough yet, but holy crap the songs are amazing.

It's the kind of moody, ironic synthpop that the Pet Shop Boys used to make before Neil got all happy and upbeat. Really impressive stuff.

Agreed, absolutely. I'm hoping this comp will bring him some attention and encouragement so he'll start moving forward with more material. He's actually been doing this for many many years. His songwriting instincts are dead on.

By the way the Stochastic Theory track that appears on this compilation, "Shared Lies", can be heard in the Artits section here on electrogarden (just got posted there yesterday).

But HaLO's the only place you can get it on disc!
