I thought I'd ask you guys about what is good and what is bad about German synthpop band Point of View.
I've dismissed them since they began based primarily on their poor compilation tributes.
Are any of you fans of the band, and if so, what album is the best of their three released? Do they differ much in sound etc.?
Cheers!

I absolutely love this group! Pure melodic Synthpop that rates as some of the best music out there! This stuff is so catchy that you wont be able to stop yourself from tapping your feet and singing along! The first 3 albums are all really similar in sound and their 4th and last album released had a little different sound that incorporated some cool radio/news blurbs between the singing that reminded me just a bit of Art of Noise with more synthpop and singing. You cant go wrong with this group, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I am sure you can verify this with their sound samples either on their web site or mp3.com etc. ENJOY!

The best CD by Point Of View is "Despair & Delight", which is the last one that they have put out, as far as I know. It came out in 99, I think. The song "¤¤¤¤¤" is great, as is "Burning Heaven", which was the single. There is a hidden track that comes right after "¤¤¤¤¤" which is really cool too.
"¤¤¤¤¤" is the last track on "Despair & Delight". EGN deletes the name of this track because it is a "naughty" word

Hmmmm, I'm going to have t olisten to their new one. I really enjoy their song called "Point of View" off of their o.n.e. cd. "It Cannot Be", Sweet Sixteen" and "Do You See" are also quite good. There is something about the vocals that could be improved just a little but maybe it is better on later releases. I do like his band though.
Good luck and thanks for the thread, I hadn't realized they had another cd out.

tclutz,
Point of View has four albums? Name them, if you don't mind.
I thought they only had three? Is there a newer release after 'Despair & Delight'?

1996 EP "It Cannot Be"
1997 Debüt-CD "O.N.E."
1998 CD "Events"
1999 CD "Despair & Delight"
Despair & Delight was the most refined/modern sound they had, but I must admit that I really like the simplistic and melodic early releases that just stick in your head and make you want to tap your feet to the very catchy & awesome beat!
http://www.p-o-v.de/ Here is their web page with several song samples from each of their cds for any new fans to give a try. If you havnt heard these yet, I strongly recommend giving them a try! Another OVERLOOKED group I strongly suggest is the Second Sight! It doesnt get much better than these two bands except for maybe De/Vision & Mesh! :)
