Title: Caution Acid

Sometime around early 1988, the first Chicago Acid House recordings began to surface in one of Vancouver’s import record shops. These recordings were like rough templates being sent out into the world. They almost insisted on further exploration of the basic approach to discover what nuances and mutations were possible. Throughout the latter part of the year, extensive work was done at Blood ‘n’ Tongue to try and expand on these concepts. The early experiments in this vein are documented in the releases, Evolution (http://www.blood-n-tongue.net/html/evolution.htm) and Beat (http://www.blood-n-tongue.net/html/beat.htm).
By early 1989 these efforts yielded the more refined results contained in the Caution Acid collection (http://www.blood-n-tongue.net/html/acid.htm). This double disc set compiles material recorded throughout 1989 and 1990. All the tracks focus on variations of the basic structure of Acid House music. These pieces seek to combine the insistence of Acid’s trance inducing beats with the surrealistic elements developed in earlier, more experimental and abstract recordings.
All tracks except track 10 on disc set two were recorded on 4 track cassette and then mastered to Hi-Fi VHS. Track 10 was recorded on a 12 track Akai portastudio (1/2” tape) & mastered to VHS. These were then digitally re-mastered in 2001.
This release is available for download now in high resolution MP3 format, free of charge. These recordings are being offered for personal, private use only. Any commercial use is prohibited without prior consent.
