I want to start off saying that I cried tremendously to the passing our “Voice of an Angel.” I’m not too often a visitor of Electrogarden, although I enjoy the site very much. I read all the Red Flag posts because I like to know what people have to say about them. I’ll admit to shedding a few tears to a plethora of posts, but in no way does it make me less a man. Anyway, I want to share a little story really quick…kinda funny…I’m a devoted fan of RF have every album even paid $40 for the hard-as-hell to obtain “Naïve Dance” I don’t care it was worth it!!! I told my girlfriend that I cried for Mark and she didn’t take me seriously. She even LAUGHED at me!!!! I was NOT having this!!!! I was so F***ing pissed I dumped the B**ch. Now I’m lonely and even more depressed because she was the only girl that liked RF that I have introduced their music to. Feelings are not to be tormented with. They create who you are. “Life, Love, and Tragedy.” We all commit crimes.
Off the subject a bit….RF fans seem to be well educated…I don’t know if it’s a coincidence, but I think that it’s great! I live in a city that populated with morons who think 50 cent is the best thing to happen to music! Many of you might not know who 50 cent is…I’ll give you an overview…bull**** rap that says something like “it’s your birfday (exactly how its said) drink bacardi” and other madness. I try my best to influence people to listen to Synth(no pop) and Darkwave, but its hopeless. That song probably took a few minutes to compose. I’m sorry to be stubborn…but I’d listen to Hanson before I pop a Rap cd in my player. At least they have something nice to say. : P
Music truly influences a person on the way they act, dress, speak, and think. Ponder a bit about this thought…where do those gangster wannabes get their stupid attitudes and personalities from??? I’m definitely sure it’s not from mom.
Anyway, I can write a lot more but I feel I might annoy some people…I have that tendency. I wish I could’ve seen RF in concert…it would have enlightened my days to come…but now they decrease in happiness and seem to go by quicker than ever.
As I said in my last post to a thread……Mark…...”we will hear your voice from 10 billion miles away!”
Thanx,
Sargon.
A weird boy on a mission!
p.s. About the poster thing….take your cd booklet to kinkos and tell them to blow it up!
I did that to everything of RF that would be interesting to display! I especially like the “retro” picture….old eighties pic of Mark and Chris…where Mark is looking down. I had a store put it on a shirt for me since PlanB records decided to send me a large instead of a medium of the re-issue shirt they had for sale!!!! It’s ok though I still love them!
Bye.

Michael Jackson is a way of expressing a feeling for me.
Even through hell a man can live despite all the torture from publicity.
There is nothing funny about it.
Have respect.
I love Michael's music...mainly the 80's stuff.
Besides, It's a powerful picture. Look at it and think of what he has been through.

i was desperated to get on line to tell you, my beloved red flag fans that pablo and me are writing a tribute song to mark reynolds.
this week's been as strange as it could be and i've felt as lonely as i never have.
as i've said several times in different posts, i have no one here to really share what i'm going through and i'm in need of a red flag friend.
i was very glad to read the sargonic post because i found just what i've been trying to express.
does someone feels that overwhekming feeling when while listenng to his perfect voice, think of him as a dead person??
i feel like there's something huge inside of me, some kind of disguisting anguish that i need to take out, but as much as i fed my friends up, i can't get to do it.
i never get to share their songs with anyone, i guess i lived something like sargonic with her girlfriend; i have friends who liked a lot of red flag songs but no one were closed to feel as i did these days.
it's very funny to see that there are californian fans, is it true that they made a show where there weren't more than 20 people?
about the questions about his death, i don't really think that we should ask ourselves the cause of his death, we do so why should be hypocrite. i can't wait to know it.
but i don't mean to fight with anyone, all the opposite, the main reason why i'm here is that i really need a friend....
someone to look through the window at night listening to lullaby for a restless girl, destiny, a life worth living, one plus one (one of the most beautiful things that's happened to me), cliche, rejection, and i can't go on.....i'd put them all.
when i saw the favourite songs post i was very anxious to add my fav. songs, but definitely i can't.
i won't live here for a long time, so invite me........
i have tones of feelings and thoughts to share............................................. .........
and tears......
the song has no name yet,
but it's beautiful.........and sad.
but positive.........
'n ur positivity........said a tired brett

Alejo, I went to one show in Los Angeles at the Troubador and there weren't many people at all. Most of the people we upstairs or at the bar. It was pretty sad, but Red Flag really put on a great show despite some problems from a drunk man. They were very nice.
Also, I think all of us get pretty sad when we think that Mark is gone. I certainly have. I couldn't listen to the music for almost a month but then my boyfriend finally put them on one day and just said that it had been too long since we had listened to Red Flag. Since we were driving to Monterey, CA, he wanted to listen to the Lighthouse. It was hard, but after a while I began to be okay with it and I figured Mark would have prefered me to listen to his music than shun it in pain.
So I do think we know how you feel. Stay around and post with us and maybe you might start feeling better. There is always someone here to share your thoughts with even if those people are far away.

I’m glad you have such a passion as you express in the posts about Red Flag. Feeling lonely is the best feeling for me. I like to be sad, believe it or not. Poetry is horrible when it’s happy, at least to me. The reason I fell in love with Red Flag was the dark lyrics on the song Alive. Anyone who listens to RF is indefinitely unique. Their music is an inspiration to us all. Don’t hunt for companionship, it will come. You look young so take this experience and use it for the better. I’m sorry to say but death is floating around waiting for its next victim.
For the record….I’m a HE not a she. LOL. At the age of 20.
I do not know a soul (in Cali-ali) that has heard of Red Flag. It pisses me off. I occasionally see their name on a flyer for a club, but all they play is Russian Radio. THAT’S IT!
Express your anguish through a hobby. I’m great at Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. So I make little art inspired by the one and only….RF. I listen to each song and make a piece dedicated to it. I have to listen to the song on repeat or I will lose my concentration. I’m a freak. But I like to be.
I absolutely love it that Red Flag is not to well known. I wish they were for the sake they could make millions, but I love to ask these people if they ever heard the song “Curtains” by Red Flag. I usually get somewhere along the lines of…”I’ve heard of Black Flag and Anti-flag…” Its funny. I feel so singular in comparison to these people out here. Red Flag is my escape, and faith decided to take away the greatest voice on earth.
OH I CANT BELIEVE THAT MESH…(I think)...THAT WON BEST FRONTMAN OR SINGER FOR THE ELECTROGARDEN VOTE THINGAMAGIGGER…I WAS ANGRIER THAN A SKUNK WITHOUT A STENCH.
Bull to that I say.
Anyway I got to go….I’m glad to see people post to my thread…I thought I was going to be ignored! Lol bye.
Sargon….Im a boy not a girl.

I know exactly how you guys and girls feel. I've been walking around in a haze for the last couple months. While I can't say I've been reeling since Mark's death, it certainly has had a negative impact on my life and the lives of many others. I've just been staying as busy as I can to cope with the lingering pain. Dealing with death helps me to appreciate all the good things I have in my life.
The only thing that will ever heal these wounds is time and the support of others who share our grief. We all have each other here. And believe me, I know how everyone feels in their Red Flag isolation. It's like Mark said though, "Red Flag's music isn't for everyone." For the rest of us, we will all carry the RF banner to the end of our days. Take care everyone. :)

this is a great new activity for me. i wish i had more time to meet each of you. i feel so ecxited everytime i come to the forum, it feels so special to see that i'm not the only one who really tries to let other people know how many feelings they wake up in me.
(i suppose that sentence doesn't exist in english but i might be funny, uh?)
i use to wonder why do i need so much to show them how much i love them, why everytime i show them a red flag song i have to fed them up (i'm learning not to)
and then why i feel that that that bad about his death and most of all; why the knowing of his death isn't just like the sadness of his death but something so strange. it's very hard to explain, i apologize...
then i think that it has a lot to do with idnentity problems. then they (he actually, the identification i guess) are like something that makes me feel more confident.
and listening to him singing 'i'm alive with every breath of song i'v sung' or 'wind and sea, that's where i'll be'.....well, my head just looses its shape (?) and i feel some kind of beaustiful agony. wow! i'm just realizing that i enjoy his death in some way. i know how terrible this sounds but i think it has a lot in common with the reasons why i like such sad songs, his death suits his poetry, it makes him a legend. em...ok, for me. yes, he is. and even though it's such a torture being sure that i will never get to know him (even though i didn't see that very possible, now i see some of you actually knew him so i'd love to hear anything about him), even though all those things, what was i talking about? no, i'm joking, the thing is that i've tremendously sad but i have something even closer that makes me think i'm more sure about some things. it's an illusion, i know. everything not to face the 'real thing' mmm.......
this post didn't work. i'll try again.....
wow...
and how can i get pics of him, no one of you has a fansite?

Thanx for the complement on the avatar Labrat. I had a better one but it wouldn’t show up on Electrogarden…it had an “X” in a little box….The other avatar was the same pic tweaked up with an image of a red skull in the background with a slight haze throughout the whole thing. I will take it down and put something else up eventually. I kinda liked my Charlie Chaplin! Anyway, Alejo I think you’re going through some kind of phase here buddy. It’s wrong to enjoy the death of someone especially if you admire him/her. You should consider revising your post. It’s understandable to become a wiser individual after experiencing a death of a human being, but to comment that you enjoy his death in a demented way? I’m not trying to put you down or get on your case but think about what you are typing before you start slamming those fingers on the keyboard.
We live. We reproduce. We die.
What a life we live.
Start your revolution. Take some authority. Make an action. Choose your destiny.
Be a leader. Don’t follow what others tell you. Believe in yourself.
Be a man. Be a woman. Be yourself.
It makes us the most magnificent living creatures.
Tell another soul.

"does someone feels that overwhekming feeling when while listenng to his perfect voice, think of him as a dead person?? "
Alejo: oh yes. i have that feeling. you put it in the exact words. the feeling hasn't gone away yet, but there's nothing i can do. in time i'll hopefully get over this and be able to listen to RF again with the same joy.
..and yes, i know about 50 cent (good grief!!!!! i honestly don't know how people listen to that stuff...no offence intended!)
I'm glad that i was finally able to listen to "the web" after so long. i kinda forced myself to do it. the one song that really makes me emotional.
and its really nice to have other people to talk to about this. no one i know would ever understand what's going on! one of the reasons i love the internet!

Again, I'm really sorry bro, and I meant no harm intended...It just took me off gaurd when I saw it, and chuckled a bit...We all need a good laugh every now and then...Especially in light of Mark's passing for all of us devoted RF fans...Believe me, it always helps when your able to finally smile after losing someone you loved and admired...

I shared my feelings about Mark's passing with a good friend of mine but I got the feeling that she thought I was over reacting. I dunno, I am working on a double major and one of my majors is mythology. So, every time I think of Mark, I remember Orpheus and how all the Muses and humans lamented his death. I guess Mark is my Orpheus...

a great thread - so powerful, passionate and full of emotions. i really luv ure way of writing sargonic. it seems ure feelings run directly into ure pen and express colourful what we all felt and - of course - still feel.
i guess sometimes its hard to be an almost ignored genius than just a face in the crowd. mark knew what how talented he was but besides a few hundred (?) true fans round the globe he and his brother did never ever get the respect and appreciation they should.
but maybe that loss of deserved fame, the tragedy of beeing brilliant but a secret for the masses made red flag what they were and did influence their music more than anything else.
by the way, ALIVE is just wonderful !!!
all the best to you and all others who make this forum a place i am still in love with! a place of borderless unity, friendship and passion.

hola!
well, i was very upset when i wrote that, and right after i left the radio i realized that it had been only a confusing moment. i don't actually enjoy his death because i can't listen to their songs the way i used to, there's like a limitation, an obstacule? -i continue with my hobbie of inventing words, uh?-.
right now i want to talk about an issue that i've had in my mind these days i haven't been on line and i was longing to share with you and wait for response, which is a great thing for me.
codebreaker T133. it seems like no one likes that record. ok, when i first heared i thought 'this is horrible' i thought they've lost an essential part of what they were. then i started to listening again and again and i started to fall in love with it. yet i thought it was still the red flag album i liked the least. now, i'm not that sure about that.
my friend, singer of my band and co-writer of the song we're writing in tribute to mark reynolds says the album is awful, poor and that they didn't want to make any efforts....
then i play the album and listen to it with the headphones walking down the streets, going to my college and by the time i'm there, i wonder why i can get there and find someone like the one i'm listening to. do i make myself clear? i really hope you understand what i'm saying because the last fights i've had, they have a lot to do with feding up my friends with this issue. i assume that if it was a relative that's dead, they'd be more understanding and tender to me...
but i understand it, i can't be suffering for his death itself but because of what that represents to me and even thoug i have a few thoughts about this, i guess i'm pretty lost.
i missed the original point again, it's like i'm always high, though i'm not. sometimes -like reading my previous post- i think i'm going to visit some mental hospital sometimes. and some way it's not about red flag, but about ourselves through red flag.
so, the codebreaker...the cd starts with 'eternal flame' and it's very strange trying to understand the lyrics (as much as i understand what he's saying); 'would you miss me if i'm not here, would you miss me if i disappear?'....and i could go on writing phrases that seem suspicious but i guess you could do it yourselves and if i make this post even longer than it's going to be, i guess you won't read me anymore. (buu...)
the song is great, when he says 'and all i've mentioned' (?) , thoughts are forever intertwined 'cause i'm burning, burning, burning in eternal flame' don't you love them?
i read in some post that somone couldn't start listening to the 'shadow warrior' chorus, i know why, it's absolutely beautiful.
then 'won't someone let me in...life is for the living....' aaagh!!!!!!
i can't get used to 'i will always love you....' i don't love him so much when he sings that.
but the album has some great moments and though i'd love not to forget anyone, i guess i will.
the one that's coming to my mind right now is ' yesterday has come and go and so we carry on we have each other one another, what will tomorrow hold (?) future cannot be forced though we have each other one another' i'm speechless. the sensations that my body experiments are very similar to the older songs. all the albums are great, i definitely can't decide and someday i will tell you every part of every song that i love like i've never loved any kind of music before -and i've loved a lot of music-
some basic songs?, uff?
ok. a one plus one, collide, the game, a life worth living, lullaby for a restless girl, inner sea, king of everything, the thought of you, for the dark, rejection, the web, sundown, barb wire cuts, spider's waltz, eagle and child, she's my girl (and remixes), clichè, love lacks gravity, alive, the bitter end, the map of her heart (i questioned a travelling man and here's what he had to say) agh!!!!!!!!!!! i'm going amok.............AAAAAAAAGGUHH
~labrat
June 16th, 2003, 11:41 PM
Alejo, I understand how you feel about the Codebreaker album. I do not play that CD as much as some of the other RF albums, because I feel the distorted vocals on Codebreaker really take something away from the beauty of Mark and Chris' voices. The first time I played it I thought it was horrible and wondered what they were thinking when they put it out, but Codebreaker has finally grown on me a little. There's a big thread in this forum where a lot of us shared our opinions on Codebreaker if you're interested...you might have to leaf through a page or two of the archived threads. And there are some of us who *did* like the CD. :)

You can add me to the list of people who didn't like Codebreaker when I first got it. The EGN sent me a copy of it for being one of the top posters. I ended up giving it away. I ordered it again in April. I really like the album now, but I had to get a feel for their darker sound before I could like it. I do agree with Dan. There are about 4 tracks on the disc that stand out for me. I am sure that there are others. I just need to give it more time. :)

I see absolutely nothing wrong with Red Flag’s Codebreaker T133. I enjoy every song on that cd. Yes, it doesn’t sound like the Red Flag we have grown to love and there isn’t a song on that cd that you can feel an emotion to, but its more or less an album you can listen to and say…”these song are f***ing cool!” It has a pinch of VNV Nation in it I would say, as for the effort they put into it…I don’t think many artists put much an effort into the music they produce. I have a few music production programs that I use called Reason 2.5, Fruity Loops 3, Acid Pro 4, and Sound Forge 6, along with Logic Platinum 5.10 to master and edit the sounds and whole song in general. I can make beats just like what you hear on Red Flag’s Codebreaker T133, as well as Fr/action, Nukleon, and old Covenant. I’m sure they use their “home-made samples” I can get pretty close though.
In no way am I trying to offend these artists…I bought each of their CDs…I love the music, and that’s what it’s all about right? I don’t have a synth, but my little oxygen MIDI remote will do just fine! I’ll admit that I haven’t completed a song yet, I just have not found a sound to differ from what you have all heard. I think sometimes we can be a little stubborn. Whatever pleases our little hearts will we abide to please others?
A forgotten song…..Metropolis kiss. “And for some reason everybody just sings along” I love that verse.
One comment about Red Flag….I haven’t heard that song for quite a while and when I listened to it I felt like I heard it for the first time. This has happened to me many times.
It’s the effect RF had on me. I can never get bored of any song.

i actually showed my friends that verse. it's like his voice changes for a second. something like 'the bitter end', that's the album i listened to when i just knew he was dead and i can't believe how much i cried...
it seems like there are lots of bands here, unfortunatelly everytime i get on line i come to the forum and try to communicate with you, i don't do anything else on line lately.
mmm, if there's something just like that, i mean that atmospheric sound and that perfect male voice.....let me know.
i heared two remixes by neuroactive and the band sounded really good, what about them?
i wonder why there isn't a xymox band, there are songs by them that are as good as red flag. though i love red flag more than any other band i've ever known. like the suede days. but after that, flying......
flying......

B! Machine is a great solo act. His voice is extremely deep! his beats are a little more....uh...abstract....I suggest B! machine to anyone who like Red Flag....Here's a list of artists I am very fond of....the obvious...RF
B! Machine,VNV Nation,Covenant,Beborn Beton,De/Vision, Wolfsheim,Camouflage,Apoptygma Berzerk,Front 242
Assemblage 23,Icon Of Coil,Cause & Effect,Bella Morte
Diva Destruction,Haujobb,Kaj,Nukleon,Fr/action,Null Device
Provision,Diary of Dreams,Faith and the Muse,Alphaville,Neuropa
And anywhere from The Cure to DM to The Smiths & Morrissey to A-ha and A Flock of Seagulls and Oingo Boingo.
I'm still leaving out plenty....I don't really want to go through them all as I might feel ashamed to admit I listen to Madonna and Blondie. oops...(hense I'm not really ashamed!) Prince and the Revolution included. And the unforgetable Michael Jackson!
I can't leave out Beastie Boys! haha

Wolfshiem is pretty good. Its two guys, I think brothers (I could be wrong) and they do electronic music. I like Sparrows and the Nightengales and the Spectator album.
I also like DOD from your list. DOD is in my top 3 fav bands, DM and RF being there too.:)

@ sargonic1: That's OK about Madonna, I listen to her too. Actually I like her *early* material more than the recent stuff...how sick is that? And Billy Idol rocks. :D
My three fave bands are RF, Erasure, and Neuropa...they're the only bands I'll buy stuff from without listening to any song samples first. But I would also recommend Provision to anyone who hasn't heard them and likes Red Flag.

You also have to go to their website: www.irismusic.com. They have song clips on their site. You can listen to: You're the Answer, In Spite and some other song. I would also recommend that you go to www.diffusionrecords.com. That is the label that they are on. You can listen to some other clips. I don't know if they have Vacant available for listening to, but I highly recommend it. :D.. I highly, highly, highly recommend that you check out their album, Awakening. It's a masterpiece, imho. I also adore Disconnect. I am soooooo completely taken with iris. They are amazing!!!! :D
As for mesh, go to www.mesh.co.uk. Go to their music section. Click on it. Then, go to music sampler. They have snippets that you can listen to. Unfortunately, they don't have any snippets from their latest album, Who Watches Over Me? You may be able to find them at amazon.com. I highly recommend picking up The Point At Which It Falls Apart, Who Watches Over Me?, Fragmente II, Original 91-93 and On This Tour Forever.
If you need any more recommendations, send me a private message. I would be happy to help. :)

You know, I have no idea why I'm even posting this, but in light of everything, I thought maybe all of the RF peeps in here might sympathize and enjoy this...
So for those who have inquired, you'll soon know what I'm talking about, but tonight as I listened to a lot of those old performances again, I couldn't help but laugh, cry, and think back about all of them...
Mark had an incredible energy on stage even if it was a forgettable show...For those who witnessed the fiasco comeback show in 2000 with Anything Box opening for a mucho drunken RF, or the 20 people that showed up to support them at The Troubador in Hollywood, you know what I'm talking about...Anyone remember the cell phone coversation during the Skulls performance the night before Synthcon 2002's opening night???
I remember them all...From hooking up with them at the local Denny's after the fiasco, to Mark saying "Hey I hear theres a backrrom in this place, let's go find it" (you had to be there) *LOL*
This is what I'll miss most...And for those who never got to meet him, I'm sorry, I truly am...It was fun...In one word, fun...Like I said, why am I even posting this??? Nostalgia??? I guess I'm just a sucker who lives in his past...But hey my past was nothing but good times, why not stay there a while???
Peace and love to all :D

I never really got to know them on a personal level...It was just like friends chatting up regular everyday conversation...But it was still fun, and I'm thankful I got the opportunity to meet them :) All in good fun and good times!!!

The Troubador show was a great performance, I just wish they could have enjoyed a larger audience and no problems (that drunk guy to the right of the stage). I am so grateful I took my time to drive to LA that night to see them. Wouldn't miss it for the world :)

i was walking down my neighbourhood this afternoon and i suddenly this feeling surprised me. i guess you never walked through those streets and you may have very different lives, but then i thought that at some point we share this thing, i'd fall in love with someone as sensitive

Mi amour, check out Diorama, of course as mentioned before, Diary of Dreams, B!Machine, Wolfsheim, Wave in Head! DM without a doubt (but I am sure to you've heard them)! There is also Leahdorus and a band from Espàna named Self-Delusion, and Moenia to mention a few! Give them a listen and you just may fancy them! Ciao!
P.S. You may also like Melotron( all German Lyrics) or Deine Laikien!

I have to disagree with that. How about "Made for Love" (one of my all-time favorite RF songs) and "Fallen Angel" (although my wife hates that song)?

ok, this forum seems to be my salvation, musically speaking. even though i've heared some of those bands, as melotron, vnv nation, wolfsheim, de/vision and of course the classics...camouflage and stuff (crime was one of my obsessions), but now i can hear about best or worst albums. i was re-reading the mark reynolds egn interview and his posture about downloading mp3, but what else can i do? since dollars are sooo expensive here and it's too dificult to actually receive a cd if you buy it through the internet....what else can i do?
lullaby for a restless girl, i think it's the song that represents exactly those special feelings i have when a song has a special something. it's the way he sings it, the tension that never explodes.
then i get frozen with one plus one, and i can't go on...
but isn't it great when he sings 'there's a time we all must admit we falter a bit and then wonder why we're living to die' ? ugh?
tell me....
i can't be on perspective yet, neither my english

I can kind of see his point of view regarding downloads, but again it's hard getting stuck with a bunch of cds that you will never listen to. Downloading songs has opened up my eyes to a lot of bands that I wouldn't have heard. I just wish Audiogalaxy was still up. :( I could go to direct connect, but I am on dial up and dont have a gig of songs to share. :( Someday though, I will be up and running!

That's an area I've always disagreed with him on. I think a lot of people (including myself) have been introduced to new music - that they end up paying for - through mp3s. I have bought CDs from de/vision, Iris, and even Red Flag after first hearing mp3s of songs. If I like a band after hearing their songs, I'll buy their music. Otherwise, I delete the files.
I think Mark may have had it in his head that if it weren't for mp3s, they'd have sold a lot more albums. I'm not sure that's true. There (unfortunately) really aren't that many Red Flag fans out there. In fact, just in the last week, I bought 3 "rare" Red Flag LPs (including the one on red vinyl) on Ebay - and I was the only bidder on all 3 of them (which was a surprise to me).
The bottom line is, I think mp3s help music sales, for this particular genre at least, more than they hinder them.

I couldn't agree more with you...I'm the same way...I'm a bit of a downloader from time to time...Not to make a profit by selling anything, but to enjoy a new song and maybe get an opportunity to (like the majority) hear a band I might not ordinarily have the chance to listen to...It's all about new things, and getting the music across to anyone that wants to listen to it...
My stance is, the "real" music fans will buy an album because they want the real thing...A cd, artwork inserts, album liner notes etc...
But to get back into the R4ed Flag side of things...I've tried to find rare things from them online before, and it was really hard...Theres almost no mp3's floating around from RF, so I can't see where Mark would have gotten upset about the band losing money from album sales by people downloading the music...There aren't any RF mp3's to download in the first place...
JMHO :)

When I tried to find some mp3 files of the newer albums (to see if I would like them before buying) a few years back, I instead found the mp3s of the "EP" album. One of the songs (Illumination) is one of my favorites, and I hadn't been aware that there were remixes of it available. So, downloading the mp3s led me to order the "EP" CD - if it weren't for the mp3 files, I may not have become such a big fan (who now seems to feel a need to have everything, including the early vinyls...)

I'm sure there are discussions going on in the EGN concerning BT...I just think you may have gotten into the wrong forum...No harm my friend, you can probably find something on BT in the Trance, Techno, Ambient forums...Just go to the main community page and you'll find the forum there... :)
Good luck, and welcome to the EGN!!! :)

I personally feel that Red Flag's extended mixes were some of their best work. I think that the Megablack Box Set and the Fear Series Box Sets are some of their best stuff.
I think that the CDs that those box sets cover, Eagle & Child, The Crypt, and Fear Of A Red Planet are probably their best albums.

The Crypt, EAC, and FOARP were definitely some of their best work, but I'm also really stuck on Caveat Emptor. For some reason I thought the Fear Series box set was better done than the Megablack...maybe it's just because the Megablack seemed very repetitive to me with all the remixes of tracks from just two albums. (Although I appreciated having the Machines disc!) Also, I never could get into "Tik Tok", although the lyrics crack me up...Mark must've been going through one sleepless night when he wrote that...
Just my .02 :)

I like "Tik Tok", actually - that and "25 Hours a Day" are worth getting the set for, since they're not available elsewhere... :)

I have to agree with labrat's above post. Fear series is great.

Megablack set has "Prelude To A Disc" though, which is great, as well as "Beyond The Ice", which is another great track exclusive to that set. The "Tick Tock" part ends the medley of songs on "Prelude To A Disc", but I like the way Mark did it on there.
Or, is "Beyond The Ice" on Fear Series? I can't remember now. Either way, it's a great track!

I've not got either MB or Fear series (yet), although the version of the Crypt has TikTok as the 12th track - is this the same version?
There's been a few LPs of Naive Dance on eBay recently but I don't have a turntable now:(

I believe the Crypt CD in the MB set is the same as the regular Crypt album, except that all the discs in the MB were on CDrs instead of regular CDs. (:() The tracklistings given on a number of websites for the MB set are incorrect. I think even the tracklist that used to be on redflag.org was wrong. Tik Tok appears as the last track on the first disc of the box set (Prelude to a Disc).

You know, I never got the chance to ask Mark or Chris what the deal was with the cd-r's...EATC, silver, Fear Of A Red Planet, silver, but everything in between those was cd-r's???

My guess is that they did it because they were cheap to make. IT has to cost some money to be so prolific without a _lot_ of sales...

The funny thing about that song is that my wife was trying to figure out what it was about. She finally decided that it was about the sky. I thought about it, and then pointed out that the song title (which she may not have been aware of) was "I am the Wind", and that it was probably the answer... :)

Yes, all the CDs in the Megablack and Fear Series box sets, both singles and albums, were CD-R's. It was to save money, as each of those sets had, like, 10 discs in them. Some of the track listings on Megablack are wrong, although the Fear box seems correct on the track listings. I believe that these two box sets were the only place where CD-R's were used.

Hmmm... They don't seem to be available anymore at any of the usual places. Maybe you can get lucky and find a used copy somewhere?
