Can anyone recommend any good VST's for noise generation? I'm looking to make some noise driven pads to use.

Which platform?

If you can use it, get Pluggo. That's got some wicked plugins for mangling audio into noise. The granularizers like "Rye" and "wheat" make some weird noisy sounds out of...well, anything. And there's a feedback loop generator that makes weird noises nonstop (although you don't have much realtime control over it - but it's basically Brian Eno in a box).

And of course, Absynth can do some wonderfully noisy things too. I love that program.

Woops, kind of left that important detail out. I do my work on my Win box, so unfortuantly I can't use Pluggo. Looks interesting though. Thanks.

I keep hearing rumours that it's going to get ported, but I've not seen anything.

Abysynth is cross-platform, though.

Actually, I have created some wicked noise through Reaktor 4. Nothing to please the ears with though. lol.

pulsate,

I think I'll look into Reaktor. I saw your post on the reaktor4 thread. I'm using FL Studio for my sequencing needs, and if I could just slap in reaktor4 as a VSTi then that would be sweet.

Reaktor is brilliant. Get it get it get it.

It's a serious processor hog, though. And the learing curve is very, very steep if you want to make your own weird noise manglers. But there's very little you *can't* do with it. And it comes with some pretty cool noisemakers on its own.

I can't beleive I forgot to mention it.
