Is anyone else enjoying the new Steril 'Purification' as much as me? This is such a pleasant and refreshing change from all the melodramatic synthpop coming out these days. I really liked Steril back in the Egoism days and this album is just as fast paced, energetic, and even more addictive. Not a whole of bands these days mix guitars with electronics very well, and I miss it. Could this be a revival of coldwave style music? Nothing would make me happier than to hear Chemlab or Pop Will Eat Itself would regroup for new albums, but in the meantime this is good listening.

I haven't heard the whole album yet, but I'm definitely a fan of Pervous Transmissions and so on, but "I Get Closer" is, well, not what I was expecting. I'll prolly check out more of it soon, but I was a bit underwhelmed by that track. I'd personally love if more bands came out in the PWEI/Chamlab style as well. I miss that stuff:)

How about Acumen Nation - The Fifth Column.

I love the new Steril album, bought it at MNS since I doubt any of the stuck-in-the-80's folks here in the U.S. would ever expand their horizons long enough to enjoy a release like this.

'Purificiation' may not be the most original record released last year, but it's a hell of a lot more diversified, daring and clever than most of the play-it-safe 'synthpop' bands I've been hearing lately.
