If I were a girl I'd sign right up. But I'm not.

However, I've always felt that there should be more women in electronic music, not just as vocalists. It's a bit male driven these days, and a female perspective would be wonderful.

Not to mention I've always dreamed of meeting a girl who can program my AN1x better than I can... :)

yeah im a feminazi, if thats what u wanna call it.
i think it is very important for women to have a space to discuss and learn about music. this board is very male dominated and so are most boards having to do with electronic music. have u noticed that there arent nearly as many women involved in electronic music as there are men?
before this , there werent many women musicians compared to men, on radio stations, they wrent allowed to play women's songs back to back until the about the 90's I think.(correct me if my timiming is off).
and women are often just bodies in rap videos and punk videos on mtv+tv in general.
well, here are many issues that i dont really want to get it to.
but i can say that for me to have a place to talk with and learn from other women making electronic music is empowering,
it is something that i need and that i think many women need .

I've said it before, I'll say it again. There is nothing sexier in the world than a girl who can program my AN1x better than I can.

There you have it. Even she admitts to her involvement with the fourth reich. Women werent allowed to play on the radio till the 90's? "on radio stations, they werent allowed to play women's songs back to back until the about the 90's I think" Ok so modonna was a man. Tina turner was a drag as well im not surprised. What the hell time period do you live in? Anyway as far as the number of men that come in here It's not like we have this rule that women can't show up. We invite it. As intro said it actually gets us exciteted. So theres nothing wrong with an all woman web-site no more than there is an all male web-site or all black or all white web-site. When i try to to talk to girls about electronic music they say "wow i don't know anything about that" well learn then. Just don't blaim your lack of knowlege on men. The books sell just as easily to women too. So get over this man hating bullいい trip youre on. No one is stopping women from being involved in electronic music. There i said it although now that you're pissed im sure you'll argue. so lets here it.

ha! wow...

i know what I'm thinking!

Allusions to Hitler youth and a female-dominated electronic music forum... oh yeah... i can see the parallel...

c'mon dude, you're making those of us with three digit IQs look bad.

thanks, cliffwalk.

one thing to point out here is that i cant post a link to a site for women djs and electronic musicians w/o being called a feminazi or a man hater.

dehuman, you think that it is good for women to have their own site, so what are we arguing about?

there is discrimination against women in the music industry, in particular in the electronic music industry.

Some women producers on pinknoises were talking about how it is really hard for them to get jobs as women and when they do, the men in the studio expect them to be getting them their coffee.

Also, why do you believe the reason that women should be involved in electronic music is to fulfill your fantasies?

abot the radio: women's songs were not played back to back on mainstream radio up until very recently.

when women are allowed to be in the spotlight, they are most often sexualized and objectified.

frankly I know several professional female musicians who have no complaints about how they are treated. when i've done session work (this is jazz, not electronic) in the past there's been a female involved, as a musician, in every session... they've been treated no differently...

MIND YOU.. the work I've done have been in SMALL studios... again, not corporate...

now with the mainstream... isn't most if not all mainstream music sold partially on sex appeal? so isn't it going to be inherently sexist based on that fact alone? is it REALLY about sexism in the workplace at that part or more about the fact that product itself is sex?

mainstreams issues also are more idiomatic of a general problem inherent in any corporation. isn't the battle field really corporate america and not the music industry?

i just have a problem seeing this as a problem with the music industry and more of a problem of a woman's place in corporate america. big difference because the target should be defined properly.

just playing devil's advocate.

well, u r right. this argument is becoming a bit too general.

mainstream music is definitely more fuct up, but i think it carries over to independent music also

i was using specific examples and generalizations to try to prove that there is a gender bias in the music industry, and yes this stems from corporate america.

I wasn't saying women should be in studios simply to fulfill my fantasies. I was just making a stray comment. It's not really the making music, but a girl who chases after what she wants and does it that I find so attractive.

Anyway, I do feel that women should have more of a place in electronic music. I'm all for it.

i know.... anytime you want to talk.... just drop me a line :) i can talk on this subject for years!

i've been in this scene for 10 yrs now..... being an outspoken women in the electronic music scene is hard to come by... so, naturally, there is opposition. People always like to argue and make themselves feel more important. don't let it get you down! you know who you are and no one can take that away! be a woman in electronic music and BE STRONG!!! :)

you go girl!

This is a scene? wow Loser me, I always thought of a nightclub as a scene. I guess it's a web site. Look I don't care what you do I love electronic music and admire females who do it. And yes i find it attractive whether you care or not. It's just this whole "men are the problem with.." notion that just slows you down from your own potential. Many women I have met just aren't as interested in creating electronic music. It's not our fault. So if you are, good. Rock on. and be apart but don't dash in here pointing yer finger or you'll get resistance. Sorry That's life. 'nuff said. -MJ

"...when does the truth not hurt?...." ok I'm quoting myself here. At least I'm honest.
