I have read three different reports alledging that Alan Wilder has broken contract with Mute due to internal label disputes and that he may entirely be quitting the industry. These rumours stem from supposedly someone internal at Mute Records.

Tell me this is not true!!!

as for the contract with mute it would not surprise me if alan has broken off his connections with mute. i know he has publically stated he was dissatisfied with the work mute did to promote unsound methods and especially liquid.

as for if he's quitting entirely i have no idea, but it would truly sadden me if he did. his work is some of the best and most unique electronic music ever, imho. i know the discussion has surfaced on the curve website (since the curve members have worked a lot with alan, and to my knowledge consider themselves friends of his). on their site they promised to ask him about his plans and report it, so if nothing shows on the recoil or mute sites, then maybe something will show on the curve site.

So he's still rich huh from all that royalty he got from DM... Huhhhhh to have financial freedom, must be so awesome, you dont have to work, he can travel where ever he wants , drink the finest vodka, uuhhhhhh the life of AW, thats what I want... .. Well maybe he's getting bored with Recoil and this is the best time to rejoin DM, I dont know, you know he wants to, ahhhh to be arguing with floofhead Martin Gore again..

I'd say the right thing to do for him to keep his financial freedom is to rejoin DM.... One more time Alan, get off your arse, stop drinking your Stoli vodka, and bigod stop watching British Football(soccer) and do your fans a favor, rejoin DM damn it, DM needs you..

BTW for any British soccer fans, Arsenals sux, go Chelsea l.o.l..

When I listen to the live backing tapes of DM post-Wilder, oh my God, yes Alan needs to be there again. Or at the very least, to do only the live backing tapes for the tours.

I just looked at Alan's website, Shunt. There was nothing there about Mute and Alan. I know there is a message board for Alan but I don't have the address here at school. I will post it when I get home. You can have a look at his official site: http://www.recoil.co.uk

Alan doesn't get any PRS royalties, except for the songs he wrote. Martin gets all the royalties. That's one of the reasons he left DM, Mart didn't want to share co-authoring status.

*Ahem* Go Newcastle United!!! (http://www.nufc.co.uk) lol, down with Man U!

Good for him!

I'd give up the dream of him ever returning to DM. I just can't see that as doable given what's been said to the press. *shrug* then again that's njust the press...

Maybe Alan can just start his own record company.

Wild Records. Heheheheh. That would be cool.

The reason Alan isn't talking is because I have him locked up in a closet in my house right now, and I'm forcing him to sing old DM songs over and over...-ha ha ha!!! ;)

*LOL*

p.s. I'll make him sing for you though ;)

Unfortunately it looks as if this is true. A British webpage I read the other day, verified it. Alan has removed himself from the Music Industry it seems due to many things, the least of which is strained ties with Mute. As for rejoining DM......it's highly doubtful from some of his comments I've read in interviews with him.

Oh well, we've got some solo albums coming out soon from Martin and Dave, should be a musically interesting year.

Wow thats sad to hear if this is true...The music world has lost a great composer/writer in Alan...:(

it is really sad but i don´t understand it. Alan said a lof of times that he is very good friend with Daniel Miller - head of Mute, so it makes no sense that they treat him hard, who?? some Mute employees? Daniel is the man behind Mute. And if he is unhappy why doesn´t he change the label?, i bet o lot of electronic-type labels would want him.

He is disappointed in promotion of CD not in Daniel. In my opinion Recoil doesn't fit to Mute. The music is others. Maybe to NovaMute.

if it is so then it still does not make sense :-), because he said he is in music business now not for the money and that the only factor that is important for him is if HE likes what he creates and that he does not make music just for the reason to be commercial. Recoil will never be a big seller, i know it is frustrating, but if he wants better promotion he should change the label, Mute is not the label that has enough money to push more artistic musicians.

Well from what I know Alan still stays in touch with Dave. And Alan and Martin wasn't really the problem. Fletch and Alan disliked eachother. Alan even stated that Dave has been real cool and not bad mouthed Alan when he left DM. Bottom line, DM is not just a band, they are a business and if Alan is stil friends with Dave a reunion is always possible...unlikely but possible. To be honest i think they both need eachother. DM runs at about 50% and so does Alan. But with Alan having that break away from the rest of the band, now could be a good time for Alan and DM to sit down, have a few beers and air everything out. They are adults, and the only member that wouldn't want Alan back would be Fletch. I've only heard Dave and Martin saying they weren't happy Alan left but it didn't sound like they all hated eachother.

dave and alan are friends. from what i had heard, dave was going to even sing on a track or two on the next recoil project.. doesn't seem like that'll happen now. but don't be surprised to see the two work together again in the near future.

i blame his departure mainly on fletch's ¤¤¤¤ty attitude. every interview i've read or seen with fletch since alan left has annoyed me. fletch comes off as extremely arrogant and acts as if alan wasn't important to the band at all. which is a total sham. dave was the voice, martin was the heart, and alan was the soul. fletch has always been useless imo.

if you really think about it, why should alan have to share sales profits with someone who basically has done nothing for the band musically in the past 15 years? alan spends 16-20 hour workdays in the studio programming while fletch jumps up and down behind a keyboard? and they got paid equally? doesn't seem right to me.
