Wondering if anyone here has heard about this group. When I first noticed the name (Marina Sirtis), I thought it was a solo female vocalist……..as it turns out, Marina Sirtis was just the name of the group with a male vocalist. I was a bit skeptical about them at first. Not only the group name didn’t interest me, they are rarely being mentioned anywhere on the scene (I guess since they’re still relatively a newcomer). But after I listened to their songs............ I can't help but being excited about this new synthpop group. Great vocal and perfect sweet electro sounds.
I’d strongly suggest you all give this one a listen. They mostly play synthpop with slightly darker influences (darkwave). No voice distortion or industrial music here. Just sweet and sometimes moody electro stuff. Check out the song “Berlin” and “Plain.” Absolutely brilliant!! Cheers.

Yeah, I enjoy Marina Sirtis quite a bit, and Martin is a great guy as well. I certainly can hear a Peter Murphy influence.

"Marina Sirtis" is also the name of the actress that played Deanna Troi on Star Trek - The Next Generation

Yes, that's what I've heard........the group-name was based on the actress's name because they're apparently a huge fans of Startrek (or her) :-)
Oh yeah, the album, BTW, is called "Delay & Depression." Cheers.

Or you can check out the tracks on EGN at http://www.electrogarden.com/artists/msirtis/ since they have a song at #6 on the EGN chart. They even have music at http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/348/marina_sirtis.html which is where I discovered them. I'm fond of "Pretending" and they've really got their sound together. Good stuff.

Hello everyone. This is Martin in Marina Sirtis. I'm quite surprised that this thread popped up and quite pleased.
One thing that is funny about what people think we are influenced from, for example Peter Murphy, is that we have often never heard of these guys. I think our influences are the usual round-up but the fact that André is writing most music and I'm doing the arrangements seem to have the effect that we don't really sound like the usual round-up.
Concerning the name: Marina Sirtis was a really stupid choise. One of the things we regret most. We can't do anything without being told we do Star Trek stuff. Then no-one understand what this has to do with star trek. So all I can say about this is SORRY! We'll never rip of anything from star trek again.
Concerning mp3's you probably know that MP3.com is shutting down as a free service. Therefore we will just let that one drop. Look at our homepage instead. www.marinasirtis.net
Finally, ¤¤¤¤!!! Skylla, Thanks for the reminder.
Bye the way. I have 20 or so CDs at a friend in New York waiting for shipment to ADD. I will speed up that shipment.

Yay!! The headmaster was another EGNer...... I didn't know that. Well, Martin...... It's great that you keep track of electro stuff on the web.
Just wanna let you know that your group absolutely rocks!!! I don't come across that many good-quality synthpop newcomers nowadays............ Absolutely love "Berlin (synthpop mix)", "Pretending", "Essential Voices", and "Plain." Well, that's almost all of the songs from the album already. :-) The rests are great too........and those unreleased mp3 tracks.....wow...... Just awesome.
Keep up a good work, Martin. Don't forget, i'm one of your fans....... :-)

Thanks FxBoy.
It really helps getting this kind of super response. Our music isn't to everyones liking but some people really think it is good.
I guess I would have liked it myself if I didn't have had to listen to the songs 10.000 times while recording. One looses touch with reallity when recording the music and its impossible to know if the songs are gooood or baaaad at the end.
Therefore hearing from people telling you that it's absolutely rock is a life saviour. I haven't touch an instrument since ending the recording. Maybe I should.
Thanks again.
