Okay so I'm really intrigued about a band I know absolutely nothing about...But seeing as I always get great responses when I do this, I figured what the hell, you might actually have heard of these guys too :)
The band is called Paris, and from what I know (the only thing I know), is that they are formally a Spanish synthpop/europop band from the late 80's/early 90's and have a sound that people describe as being like Cause & Effect, Cetu Javu, Anything Box, and another Spanish artist by the name of Gazebo...
Any info on both Paris and Gazebo would be great :D
Thanks!!!

Hi Dan, Gazebo is italian, he has very good tracks, the term for this kind of music is italo disco, itīs synth-pop with a special sound created by Emulator II, Minimoog, Oberheim... Check this: www.ld-sign.com/italo/italo.php , itīs about some of the bands of this movement, some of them are very interesting, try to listen to these tracks, they are my favorites:
Gazebo: 'I Like Chopin'
Gazebo: 'Masterpiece'
Ryan Paris: 'La Dolce Vita'
Gary Low: 'You Are In Danger'
Gary Low: 'Forever, Tonight And All My Life'
P.Lion: 'Happy Children'
Den Harrow: 'A Taste Of Love'
My Mine: 'Hypnotic Tango'
Marx & Spencer: 'Stay'

Hi Juanlu, thanks so much for the info and the link buddy :)
I've never heard what's classified as "Italo-Disco", but then again as the site says, it was never big in America, so the trend probably just slipped by me unnoticed...However, I'm really interested in hearing some of this stuff, I have a feeling it might have a similar sound to the late 80's stuff like Bardoux, The Flirts, etc...If so, I dig that sound, and I'd like to hear more...Is there a definitive compilation available you can recommend to me to get the best example of the Italo-Disco music???
Also Gazebo, is the I Like Chopin album his best of??? If so,the local store here carries it, I'd like to pick that up tonight :)
Thanks Juanlu!!!

You sure its not Paris By Air (http://artists.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/Paris_By_Air/) your thinking of. Eurodance/synthpop group from the mid early 80s?
If thats who it is, all their stuff is available here (http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/74/paris_by_air.html) at their MP3.com page.

Hi DAN,
Seeing this kind of thread reminds me back of the old days of the young & innocents. :-) GAZEBO is considered as disco back then (or more appropriately called 'italo-dance' genre) back then..........
You can never go wrong with GAZEBO, I absolutely LOVE Gazebo. I did some research, and the best thing that you can get in the U.S is through AMAZON dot com. Go and get his 'Collection' album (basically it's his GREATEST HITS). Don't know if TOWER RECORDS carry this kind of stuff since this old-disco stuff is so rare nowadays.
Along those genre, I also enjoy: Ken Laszlo, Grant Miller, Den Harrow, Limahl, Joy, Bad boys Blue...and many more.......
The good old days........ ;-)

just a lil note
i have some Bad Boys Blue albums and they are hit-an-miss.. very cheesy.. alot more cheesy than the 80s synthpop that most of us are familiar with
i'd give them to you, but i cant pay shipping or anything
one song though sounds exactly like a new order song and i like that song

I have a couple Bad Boys Blue cd's, as well as Joy's greatest hits cd...I'll check into Gazebo...
The band Paris I'm talking about though isn't Paris by Air, just Paris...They are from Spain I think the link said...Theres an auction on ebay for a Gazebo and Paris cd, but I don't bid on cd's outside the U.S...

I'm not familiar with Paris; but some of my really obscure 12" dance singles from the 80's supposedly fall into the category of Italo Disco. (I say 'supposedly,' because I've never been entirely sure how to classify this style of dance music. It's danceable, aka 'disco;' and the artists are Italian. So perhaps that's all it is.)
When Napster was up and running, they had an entire Italo Disco category....it was fascinating to me, because I didn't realize it was such a large genre of music.
Two artists from my record collection that fall into the category of Italo Disco: Sandy Marton and Shy Rose.
I have two 12" singles by Sandy Marton: "Exotic and Erotic," and "Love Synchronicity."
The one by Shy Rose is called "I Cry for You." It's one of my all-time favorite dance records, but I don't talk about it much around here; because usually no one has ever heard of it.
How many Italo Disco fans do we have here on EG? Anyone besides me have Sandy Marton and Shy Rose?
